The Vessels of Sin were seven relics inhabited by the Demons of Sin. Scattered across the world shortly after their creation, the vessels caused numerous incidents throughout the centuries. They were collected by several individuals throughout history, some claiming they could collectively grant any wish.

History

Creation

After Eve Moonlit's death in EC 014, her children, Hänsel and Gretel, split her Original Sin into seven fragments, housing each fragment and its corresponding demon in objects kept within their home. Afterwards, the vessels of sin were scattered across the world,[1] causing calamity in their wake. Eventually, the Demon of Lust inhabited a katana, the Demon of Gluttony inhabited a red wine glass, the Demon of Pride inhabited a hand mirror,[2] the Demon of Sloth inhabited a woman and her descendants,[3] the Demon of Envy inhabited a pair of twin blades, the Demon of Greed inhabited a blue spoon, and the Demon of Wrath inhabited a golden key.[4]

Venomania Event

At some point, the golden key Grim the End fell into the possession of the Marlon Royal Family. The sword of Lust was collected from a village by I.R. in EC 135. She later gave the vessel to Cherubim in December of that year.[5]  Later on, in EC 136, Grim the End was given to Count Karchess Crim by his lover, Queen Yufina. Later that year, the Demon of Sloth moved from her human host to the Clockworker's Doll I.R. had created.[6] In EC 137, I.R. fled the mansion with the sword and doll.

Disappearance of Conchita

Sometime during the EC 200s, the wine glass inhabited the stomach of a baemu and ended up at the Conchita Mansion in November, EC 296. A week later, the mage AB-CIR collected the glass from Duke Muzuri Conchita.[7] Later on, AB-CIR was forced to relinquish the glass in Marlon.[8] The vessel of Gluttony eventually ended up in the possession of Arte and Pollo, Banica's twins servants, storing it in their room at the Conchita Mansion.[9]

In EC 323, the twin gifted the wine glass to their master, Duke Banica Conchita. At some point, the Levin Church gained possession of the Twin Blades of Levianta. In EC 325, Phantom Thief Platonic stole the wine glass from the mansion. Later that year, in August, Banica devoured the Demon of Gluttony and replaced it as the demon of the wine glass.

Shortly after, the Glass of Conchita was collected by Elluka Clockworker before Platonic stole the glass and fled shortly after. The wine glass was later delivered to AB-CIR and the Clockworker's Doll was eventually returned to the mage's possession.[10] The mage later lost possession of the Glass of Conchita.

Daughter of Fog

Sometime afterward, AB-CIR lost ownership of the Venom Sword and it ended up in the possession of an Elphegortean soldier. In the 5th century EC, an Asmodean soldier came into possession of Grim the End. In EC 467, the Elphegortean soldier's son Zenon took possession of the Venom Sword. In EC 468, the Asmodean soldier died in a war and Grim the End was kept by his daughter, Yvette.

In EC 473, the mage Abyss I.R. took the sword from Zenon. In EC 477, Abyss gave the sword to General Shalgham who in turn gave it to his step-daughter, Yvette. Later that year, Zenon, having become "Gast Venom", took the sword from Yvette. The next night, Abyss I.R. confronted Gast and took back the Venom Sword again after defeating him.[11]

Story of Evil

In EC 480, Abyss I.R. lent the Venom Sword to Queen Prim Marlon and she used the vessel to seduce King Arth of Lucifenia. After the two agreed to continue collaborating in EC 482, Prim helped Abyss I.R. find and collect the vessels of Gluttony, Pride, and Greed for their combined collection. At some point, Abyss split the vessel of Pride into four smaller hand mirrors. Around that time, Prim gave one of the mirrors to her son, Kyle.[12]

The following year, Abyss transferred the Demon of Gluttony to one of the four hand mirrors. The demon was later sealed in the mirror by Elluka and kept in her possession. Around that time, Ney Marlon was given another mirror before being before being sent to Lucifenia as a spy. The Demon of Gluttony was later recalled to the wine glass by Abyss I.R.[13] In EC 492, Prim gave the Marlon Spoon to Mikina Freesis.[14] Some time after, Yvette sealed away Grim the End in the Held Monastery.[15]

In January of EC 499, Ney gave the hand mirror she carried to Riliane.[16] Abyss I.R. later gave Mikina the Venom Sword and she passed it onto her husband Keel, storing it in their mansion's treasury.[17] In EC 500, the merchant took the sword whilst fleeing his mansion during the Green Hunting. He later gave the Venom Sword to Elluka Clockworker and it was subsequently sealed.[18]

Following the Lucifenian Revolution, Abyss I.R. moved the Demon of Lust to one of the hand mirrors. In EC 501, Elluka and Gumillia lost possession of the Venom Sword to Kyle at the Lucifenian Royal Palace.[19] In EC 505, Ney was given the Glass of Conchita.[20] Several months later, Gumillia and Yukina Freesis stole the hand mirror from the palace before Kyle quickly retrieved it.[21] Two weeks later, Kyle was defeated and the mirror was subsequently sealed by Gumillia along with Riliane's former mirror.[22]

Later on, Prim brought the last hand mirror and the Clockworker's Doll with her to Castle Hedgehog.[23] She was later killed during the ensuing battle and Kyle collected the doll, glass, and mirror after defeating Ney; they were subsequently sealed by Elluka and Gumillia. Shortly after, Abyss I.R. stole the vessels from Lioness Castle. Shortly after Abyss killed Ney, her soul was absorbed into the Glass of Conchita.[24]

Several weeks later, Abyss I.R. was defeated in battle. Elluka and Gumillia later collected the spoon and glass from Mikina and subsequently sealed them again.[25] Around that time, Abyss I.R. took Grim the End from the nearby monastery.[26]

New Four Horsemen

In EC 508, Abyss I.R. acquired the Twin Blades of Levianta.[27] During the New Four Horsemen Incident afterward, Abyss retrieved the Glass of Conchita. The mage later lost possession of the vessel to Chartette Langley. Chartette then reforged the twin blades as two pairs of scissors in Jakoku. In EC 549, Chartette gave both scissors to a warrior.[28]

Père Noël

At some point, Grim the End ended up in the possession of the Blankenheim Family. In the late EC 590s, Julia gave the Venom Sword to Yuzette Ora in Rollam.[29] At some point, Julia Abelard stored the vessels of sin in her possession in her mansion's treasury in Rolled. On December 27, EC 603, Julia gave Lemy the Glass of Conchita for his birthday and it was moved to his room.

In EC 608, Kaspar Blankenheim gave the Golden Key to Mayrana Blossom and she passed it onto Julia.[30] In December of that year, Gatt Coulomb was given Grim the End, returning it sometime after.[31]  In November of EC 609, the Demon of Sloth was pulled from it vessel and the Clockworker's Doll was discarded at the abandoned Moonlit Residence. On February 11, EC 610, Yuzette was killed and Lemy retrieved the Venom Sword for Julia, storing it in their mansion's treasury.

On January 26, EC 611 Julia took the vessels in her possession with her while fleeing her mansion and stored them in Pale Noël's tomb at Merrigod Plateau. Grim the End was later given to Gatt Coulomb on January 29; later that day, he was defeated and the vessel was acquired by Elluka Clockworker and Gumillia. Following Julia, Lemy, Elluka, and Gumillia's duel in the tomb on January 30, the vessels were found by the World Police and stored in their vault.

Enbizaka Murders

At some point, the Twin Blades of Levianta fell into the possession of the Kagura Sudou.[32] After her death, the woman's daughter Kayo inherited the scissors.[33] In EC 842, Grim the End was acquired by the boy Len.[34]

Dark Star Scandal

At some point, the Venom Sword ended up in the possession of the Octo family and was inherited by Nyoze Octo.[35] Around the same time, the Glass of Conchita and one of the four mirrors was stored at the Graveyard restaurant.[36] Following the Spoon Corruption Case around EC 980, Gallerian Marlon collected the Marlon Spoon.[37] Later on, he collected the Clockworker's Doll.

In EC 982, Gallerian confiscated the Venom Sword from Nyoze and stored it in his mansion's treasury before giving it to his friend, Ma.[38] Some time after that, the judge confiscated the Glass of Conchita and mirror of Pride from the Graveyard and added them to the treasury.[39] Over time, Gallerian collected the other three mirrors. In December of that year, the vessels were moved to the newly constructed Evil's Theater.[40]

The spoon, glass, doll, and two of the mirrors were later moved back to his home and stored in his daughter Michelle's room. Around EC 983, Nemesis Sudou acquired Grim the End.[41]Following the Leviantan Civil War in August of that year, the doll was severely burned and Ma collected the vessels from Gallerian's burned-down home, storing in Evil's Theater. At some point, Grim the End was acquired by the Master of the Hellish Yard. The vessels of Greed, Gluttony, Pride, and Sloth awakened some time after.[42]

World's End

After the destruction of the Third Period in EC 998, Michaela summoned all seven vessels together for Allen Avadonia.[43] After giving the boy the Venom Sword, the demon manifested from its vessel.[44] Sometime after, Hänsel and Gretel brought the Glass of Conchita and the Four Mirrors of Lucifenia to the Conchita Mansion and passed the latter onto Allen.[45] Later on,[46] the Demon of Envy later brought her vessel with her to Toragay.[47]

Mechanics

Due to the Demons of Sin dwelling inside them, the vessels of sin were imbued with powerful and dark magical energy. While their wielders could utilize the demons' various powers,[48] the vessels could only be freely utilized by skilled mages due to the nature of the demons inhabiting them.[49] As a result, vessel owners that lacked magical talent also risked becoming possessed by the demon, causing them to be influenced to follow their corresponding vice and impacting their personality and actions.[50]

The traits developed by possessed vessel owners resembled symptoms of Hereditary Evil Raiser Syndrome.[51] Persons with great insecurities were especially vulnerable to demonic possession. Conversely, individuals with carefree personalities are immune to being possessed.[52] Subjects that were especially vulnerable to the vessels' influence could become complete puppets to the demons' will over time.[53] However, the owner could also enter a contract with a vessel's demon, thus gaining full access to the vessel's powers.[54] The only exception was the Clockworker's Doll, inhabited by the human soul of Eve Moonlit.[55]

An individual vessel could be more than a single object so long as the objects were closely related. Vessels could similarly be broken up into individual pieces without affecting the vessels' abilities.[56] Likewise, the demons could be transplanted to and from their vessels freely while their true bodies remained in the original vessel, allowing them to be recalled to their vessels at any time;[57] the only exception to this once again being the Clockworker's Doll inhabited by the human Eve.[58] When the entirety of a vessel was destroyed or sealed, its demonic power would also be lost.[59]

Vessels
