"Yukina, if anything goes wrong, you will be the successor."
―Queen Germaine

Yukina Freesis was the head of the Freesis Family in Marlon and the founder of the Freesis Foundation. Raised to become his father's successor, Yukina acted as Keel's aide and attendent for much of her young life. After her father suffered a permenant handicap, she took over the family's international business, eventually reorganizing it as the Foundation.

History

Early Life

Born in the Kingdom of Elphegort in EC 493, the daughter of Keel and Mikinna Freesis, Yukina was raised by her mother and an Elphe nanny during his infancy. The following year, Mikina's father, Duke Sfarz, took the child from her crib with the help of the nanny when Mikina arrived home. After her mother inadverdently unleashed the power of the Marlon Spoon, the vessel's flames burned Yukina's back while killing his grandfather and the nanny. Soon after, the family moved into a new mansion and Yukina was given all of her parents' attention and raised to be the heir of her father Keel's business. the Freesis Firm.

In EC 500, Yukina joined her father and mother in their meeting with the staff regarding Queen Germaine's rejection of Prince Alexiel in favor of their servant, Gumi. Sitting on Keel's lap, Yukina listened while the butler, Bruno, explained the situation to everyone. When Keel vented his fury towards Germaine, slamming his arms on the table, the girl became scared and Mikina soothed her. Later on in the meeting, as her mother rallied everyone to follow the Freesis motto of protecting friends and family, including Gumi, Yukina pitched in his approval.

During the Green Hunting, Yukina fled from her home with her family but was later captured by the Lucifenian army and imprisoned in the royal palace there. Once the family was released, Yukina lived at Corpa's mansion for a time before moving to the Freesis Mansion in Marlon. When Irina Clockworker and Michalea hid in the mansion to escape the Lucifenian army, Yukina and her siblings, Shaw and Aile, played with the mages before they left in EC 501.

Merchant's Aide

In EC 504, Shaw ran away from home in pursuit of researching The Daughter of Evil and Yukina and Aile were left to comfort their father as he became wracked with grief. A few months later, Yukina heard rumors of the Gula plague spreading throughout Marlon. During the following year, EC 505, Yukina noticed her mother had been repeatedly disappearing and coming backing back a few days later. Because her mother acted like nothing had happened, she ignored it. Around the same time, she heard rumors that the Gula epidemic was becoming especially bad up north, particularly around Castle Hedgehog.

Later on, Keel tasked Yukina with retrieving her elder brother and Queen Germaine. Given a letter, Yukina was sent on the Royal Victoricia as a messenger and sailed to Lucifenia. Finding her runaway sibling there, the messenger told Shaw what had occurred and gave him their father's summons, worried of Keel's despair for losing both children. After she returned with them to Marlon on the Royal Victoricia, Yukina and the others said goodbye to the sailors while they headed off to party; the group then took three carriages prepared for them, Yukina joined by her brother and two attendants.

Once they reached Bariti, Yukina asked her brother about her long time away from the city, using the opporuntity to stare just past him and look at Michalea. Once they crossed into the Northern District and approached the church, Yukina noticed her brother staring at the lines of people and explained they were all afflicted will Gula, surmising that the church was handing out free medicine. When Shaw asked if anyone had died, the boy stated very few had because of the church's early action, though mentioning the rumors he had heard about the Blood Pool Region.

After they arrived back home, Yukina ate dinner with his family and Shaw's new friends and, like everyone else, was disturbed by Ney Futapie's drunken ramblings of the danger her brother had gotten into.

Later, Yukina accompanied her father and their maid, Gerda, to Keel's meeting with Queen Germaine at Marlon Castle. After they entered the audience chamber in Right Palace, Yukina waited for a while before Germaine entered the room; the girl immediately kneeled before the Queen. Germaine then noted Yukina hadn't been to the palace before and sent her on a tour with her parliamentary secretary, Arkatoir, and Gerda. Once Arkatoir finished giving the tour, Yukina and Gerda returned with her father.

After the battle for Castle Hedgehog and Keel's injury, Yukina noticed her mother had suddenly disappered again. After two weeks, he grew concerned that she hadn't returned and then discovered a letter from Shaw addressed to Germaine, explaining that she had left Marlon. Running to Marlon Castle, Yukina learned Germaine was in Left Chapel and sprinted to the crypt while avoiding the guards. Once she found the Queen speaking to Arkatoir among the graves, she called to her, out of breath.

When Germaine tried to reprimand her for not getting an audience, the girl quickly explained that she had an urgent task. The Queen questioned if it was related to Keel and Yukina affirmed his condition was stable, though still in a coma. During Germaine's speech regarding her taking up her father's mantle with Mikina's help, Yukina interjected that her mother was missing, explaining how she'd initially brushed it off. She then added that Shaw had also vanished and handed over his letter to the Queen.

Later Life

Because her father's injury became a permanent condition even after waking from his coma, Yukina was made the head of the Freesis Firm. While under the guidance of her father and several aides, Yukina began improving the firm and it flourished under her leadership. Sometime after, she reorganized the business and established the "Freesis Foundation" in its place.

Sometime after reorganizing the firm, Keel passed away and her mother disappeared, not telling them where she went. Tracking her down to an obscure home in Marlon, Yukina told her siblings the news and the three siblings rushed to Mikina's side just before her death. At some point, Yukina met with Irina Clockworker and agreed to allow the mage to use all the resources and power of the foundation whenever she wanted; she later received criticism from the other foundation members for making the decision without their consent.

Legacy

As a result of Yukina's actions, the Freesis Foundation became an important organization in politics and business in the decades after his death. By the seventh century EC, the Foundation was entrusted to investigate the Toragay Serial Killings and their connection to Père Noël.

Personality and Traits

Yukina was a young, loyal, and obedient child. Raised with the expectations of succeeding her father, the girl readily served as Keel's attendant and regularly accompanied her father during important meetings throughout her youth. Likewise, Yukina referred to her elders very respectfully and treated and nobility with the same courtesy. At the same time, the child wasn't rigid in her upbringing, choosing to deviate from official procedures in the case of an emergency.

Regardless, Yukina was a bit more low-key than her older brother, Shaw, and appeared more reserved, calm, and restrained compared to his more emphatic and emotional demeanor. On the other hand, Yukina acted somewhat oblivious at times, as well as a little mischievous. She appeared very trusting as well, willing to give Irina the ability to use her Foundation's resources at any time. She also seemed to have a small crush on Michalea, taking the time to look at the mage when given the chance.

Yukina was also a loving member of her family and cared for their well-being. Having been pampered by her parents, she was very attached to them; as a result, she was bothered by Keel's injury and Mikina's later disappearance after his death, using all her resources to track her down and see her again. She shared a similar sentiment with her siblings. As part of the family, Yukina shared its convictions towards family and friends, holding even their servants in high regard, and willing to protect them above all else.

Skills and Abilities

From a young age, Yukina showed a certain aptitude of intelligence and was a capable attendant for her father whenever needed. She was also impressively nimble, able to outrun trained soldiers and quickly deliver messages. Under the guidance of her father and other excellent aides, Yukina gradually developed a strong business sense and used it to help propel the Freesis Firm, and later Freesis Foundation, to new heights.
