"I don't mind as long as it keeps me entertained."
―Irina Clockworker

Irina Clockworker was a powerful sorceress from the Magic Kingdom Levianta. Selected as a candidate for Project 'Ma', the mage was murdered by her sister-in-law, Elluka, before being resurrected by Sin, becoming an immortal. On a whim, she accepted a quest from Sickle to collect the Seven Deadly Sins and became involved in numerous conflicts over the centuries.

Early Life

"Rumor has it that she is an acquaintance of the evil god Sickle. Surveillance is a must."
―Note regarding Irina in a Project 'Ma' report

Irina promises to protect Elluka

Born into the Clockworker Family in BT 004, Irina became an apprentice craftsman and lived in Lighwatch with her brother, Kiril, for some time in the Magic Kingdom Levianta. Later on, Irina became friends with Kiril's fiancée, Elluka Chirclatia. She also secretly met Sickle in his forest at some point and befriended him.

In EC 013, both Irina and Elluka were selected as potential candidates for Project 'Ma' after being surveyed for their viability. As the time for the final selection grew closer, the other candidates began to be eliminated from the competition. After the apparent suicide of Ly Li and the seemingly accidental death of Milky Eights, Irina was approached by Elluka.

Her future sister-in-law then pleaded that they stop the pointless deaths over becoming the new Ma, saying that both she and Kiril preferred Irina as the candidate. Afterward, Irina expressed her gratitude to Elluka and promised to protect her. Shortly afterward, Irina was stabbed in the back  by the elder sorceress. As she collapsed, the mage saw Elluka's crying face.

Later, Irina was revived by Kiril using the forbidden Sin in the temple; when the ark exploded, she was located in the center of the blast and remained unharmed by the resulting catastrophe. Made a vessel for the twin gods, Levia-Behemo, the newly immortal Irina awoke with the ability to perform the Body Swap Technique. With her nation turned into a wasteland, Irina left the destroyed Levianta and vanished from the public eye.

After Hänsel and Gretel split the Original Sin into the Seven Deadly Sins, Sickle called upon Irina to seek out the sins scattered across the world the following year. Sneering, the mage agreed to pursue the task on a whim, hoping it would amuse her. She then began the journey to collect the vessels of sin.

Venomania Event

During her quest, Irina dallied on the mission, traveling throughout Evillious and giving aid to others in need, rather than focus on investigating potential leads. In EC 126, Irina came to Mystica in the Asmodean region of the Beelzenian Empire to visit Earl Ferdinand and was welcomed as his guest. While there, she encountered a child, Lilien Turner, and listened to her story about how she dreamed that a drought would come upon the town.

Intrigued by the girl's apparent magical power, she believed Lilien and left immediately. Acquiring a ziz tiama, she returned to Mystics several months later with the octopus, faced with the foretold drought. The sorceress climbed the nearby mountain range and prayed at the altar in the Leviantan ruins there, sacrificing the ziz tiama to conjure a rainstorm that lasted for days. Having fulfilled her duty, Irina left the country to continue her journey.

In EC 131, she helped quell a rebellion in Retasan fortress, earning the gratitude of the Beelzenian Empire and Princess Aprilis. Five years later, she began following the disappearances of Yufina Marlon and Mikulia Beelzenia at the behest of both the Kingdom of Marlon and Beelzenia, suspecting the vessels of sin were involved. During this time she met Kachess Crim, who was also investigating the disappearances of women in the Asmodean region. Learning he carried the Golden Key, she joined up with him in attempt to acquire it. Around EC 137, she came upon the mansion of Duke Gallerian Venomania in their plans to rescue the women.

However, Kachess deviated from the plan and killed the duke with the vessel before taking off. Unable to acquire the Golden Key, Irina assisted with the aftermath of the incident but failed to find the vessel of Lust. Deducing the fugitive Kachess would be in Elphegort, situated between Marlon and Beelzenia, the sorceress traveled to its capital, Aceid and indulged herself at the Vera Tavern in its Southern District. After reflecting on her recent failures, Irina paid for her drinks and left the tavern. Failing to find Kachess, Irina eventually decided to assist the Empire in solving the case with Venomania.

During her investigation, she learned that Maylis Greeonio, Princess Mikulia, and Lilien Turner had sired Venomania's children and pursued them. Learning that Maylis had fled from home with her child, Irinaa discovered she was spotted at a brothel in Lasaland in EC 138. Irina met with her soon after and noticed that she shared Meta Noël's appearance, although not sensing any Demon of Sin within her. Seeing she was seemingly happy with her life as a prostitute and that her son didn't show any signs of HER, Irina left. While investigating Mikulia, she learned about the royal family's cover up of her pregnancy and Mikulia giving up the child to Baron Toy Blankenheim. Once she confirmed the child didn't show any signs of HER, the sorceress left.

Afterward, she pursued Lilien and, learning they started a new life in the Eastern region, pursued them there. Once she met with Lilien again, Irina learned more about what transpired during the incident and how Lilien was being pursued by the mage, L.U., so she could steal her body and its unique prediction dream power. Irina then offered to swap bodies with the woman, explaining that it would deprive L.U. of her reason for pursuing her and let Lilien live a normal life. Irina accepted the offer and Irina performed the body swap. After seeing Lilien reconnect with her confused child, the sorceress found no signs of the baby having HER and left.

In EC 139, Irina met with Gumina Glassred and, mistaken for Lilien, the mage decided not to explain the situation and went along with the act. During their conversation, Irina learned what happened to Gumina after the incident and convinced her to explain her connection to Duke Venomania. The mage then learned what transpired between her and Cherubim. Afterwards, Irina questioned both Gumina and Carol Shields whether the former's attempt to destroy her engagement with the real Gallerian was because she loved Cherubim. Given no answer but a lonely smile on Gumina's silent face, Irina left.

Soon after, she learned that Kachess had started a movement with Yufina to overthrow Marlon and establish a "legitimate" Marlon government instead. She then wrote an account of what she had learned in the past two years and her plans to leave Elphegort in pursuit of Kachess. Sometime after failing to acquire the Golden Key from the Marlon Royal Family, Irina reported everything she had learned to Sickle.

Evil Food Eater Conchita

"Recently I hired a servant. Without paying her."
―Irina about Julia

Chara img6

In EC 325, Irina received the Twin Swords of Levianta from the Levin church in the Lucifenia region of Beelzenia, but later discovered the alleged vessel of Envy was fake. After having a prophetic dream of a thief attempting to steal her vessel, the sorceress was prepared for the encounter and knew not to drink the drugged tea the bandit had prepared and feigned falling asleep in her room.

Once Julia proclaimed her victory, Irina told the Phantom Thief that wasn't the case. Catching her off guard, and mage successfully captured the girl. With "Julia" in tow, Irina forced the thief to work for her and kept her bound to prevent her escape. Seeing that she, like Maylis, looked like Meta Noël, Irina tried several times to teach her simple spells, but the training failed each time. The mage decided to bring up the recent events with Sickle and, after placing a capture spell on the thief, left their residence en route to Sickle's Forest.

Irina met with the tree and explained what had happened with the Twin Swords, complaining how she failed to collect even one vessel no matter how many hardships she went through. Hitting the god between the eyes, Sickle told her how that was pointless since he couldn't feel pain and Irina answered that's why she did it. When Sickle brushed off her misfortune, she noted how he acted like it was someone else's problem and pointed out she was a volunteer looking for the vessels originally born in his forest. The god retorted that she shared the blame too in freeing the Demons and, annoyed, the mage admitted she destroyed the Magic Kingdom, punching Sickle in the face again.

When the god mentioned that the "evil" kingdom had been rebuilt, Irina said there was no need to worry since it didn't seem to inherit any of its past legacy, brushing off Sickle's fears of them recovering his period's ancient relic. Gumi passed by and greeted Irina, but the sorceress said they'd play after she finished her and the god's important conversation. Once the spirit left, she asked how many spirits that served the god and, saying he didn't remember, Irina chastised how irresponsible he was.

Brought back to the subject, she mentioned how she was also worried about something else, mentioning her recently "hired" servant and how she failed to teach her magic. When Sickle asked why she traveled with the stranger, she recalled their previous conversation about Maylis Greeonio and how Julia seemed to be her descendant, also sharing the Original Sinner's face. Recounting how Meta was supposed to have been a failure and shouldn't have any descendants, Irina questioned why so many shared her visage. Sickle brushed it off as something that sometimes happened in his era as well, although more pronounced in the current world, and Irina questioned why that happened.

When the god told her to ask Levia-Behemo, not him, Irina inquired where she could find them, but the god refused to answer. After Irina confirmed that neither Maylis or Julia seemed to have the Demon's presence inside them, Sickle mentioned that the thief wasn't with her and Irina elaborated how she captured her to prevent her escape. Once the god asked if she left her any food, Irina realized she had forgotten became concerned she'd be bed-ridden due to malnutrition. As she left, Gumi chased after her, still wanting them to play together.

In July of that year, Irina brought Julia before the Beelzenian court, introducing her to Empress Juno. Since she was investigating the rumors surrounding Margarita Blankenheim, the Empress requested Irina's assistance to uncover the truth regarding Margarita's supposed cannibalism. Once again suspecting the involvement of a vessel of sin, Irina agreed to help investigate; seeing Julia's use, Irina bartered for her exoneration in exchange for aiding her investigation.

In August, they reached a town in Grabia where undead soldiers were attacking the region. Irina and Julia were brought by its mayor to an undead soldier that had been captured and caged. After Julia confirmed it was the same kind of creature that attacked her, Irina had the mayor open the cage.  Placing her hand on its forehead, she invoked a spell and commanded him to speak. As the soldier became skeletonized by her magic, he spoke freely and revealed himself as the Blankenheim family's chamberlain, Ron Grapple, explaining how a Demon of Sin possessing a red wine glass was the cause of Margarita's reanimated army.

After begging Irina to help save Margarita by destroying the glass, Ron completely fell apart. Afterwards the sorceress determined they needed to investigate the mansion; the minstrel there, Zenos Jaques warned them not to go but she ignored him. The tired Julia insisted they wait a day but Irina, refusing to let a vessel of sin escape her grasp again, dragged the thief along with her.

That same day, the two infiltrated the Blankenheim estate and discovered it empty and in perfect order. Upon entering the dining hall, they saw the wine glass next to Margarita's child laying on a plate and took the baby and sin vessel with them as they left. On the way back, Irina lost sight of Julia and the thief managed to steal the wine glass away as she escaped.

Determining that Margarita had apparently fled, the Empire ended Irina's investigation; after she found a servant to Empress Juno willing to adopt the baby, Irina gave the newborn to the commoner. Around the turn of 5th century EC, Irina became acquainted with Will Jaques; for his research, she elaborated on what she knew of Margarita, the Glass, and the Seven Deadly Sins.

Three Heroes

"Leonhart, the time I spent here with you and Mariam... made me extremely happy."
―Irina

During Beelzenia's war with the Kingdom of Lucifenia, Irina served the Emperor as a staff officer, becoming known as "The Witch of Beelzenia" during the conflict. At some point, Irina met Prim Rogzé. Sensing her great magical potential, the mage began instructing the fascinated Queen in basic magical arts, though the noble departed for Marlon before her training was complete.

Around EC 478, Irina hired Sarah Venom to act as her escort while she traveled. During their tenure together, Irina told the mercenary about the Seven Deadly Sins, including the Venom Sword. Around EC 480, the Beelzenian Emperor's son tried to pursue a relationship with Irina and she flatly rejected him. Soon after, she and Sarah confronted King Arth on the battlefield and dueled him. Irina survived the encounter.

Soon after, she met with the Lucifenian King at the Sanosun Bridge and he invited her to join him and serve by his side. Pressured from the Beelzenian Prince's courtship, Irina agreed to the deal and pledged her loyalty to the Lucifenian King, defecting to Lucifenia. Afterwards, she battled her former comrade, Sarah, and both ended up surviving the exchange.

Becoming involved in numerous conflicts as part of Lucifenia's military expansion, the sorceress became close friends with King Arth, his wife Queen Anne, and her comrades, Leonhart Avadonia and Mariam Futapie. Around this time, she met the local blacksmith of the LangleyMouchet family and visited him whenever she needed her weapons repaired. By EC 490, they were regarded as the Three Heroes due to their wartime exploits together.

Twiright Prank

"Hey, you, what's that in her body?"
"Hahahahahaha! It's what you have been always, for the last five hundred years, always looking for, Irina Clockworker!"
"A Demon of Sin!"
―Irina and Minister Presi

In EC 491, not long after the death of King Arth, Queen Anne went to Irina for advice over the strange behavior of her son, Alexiel, fearing he was affected by magic or a demon. Learning about his sudden interest in becoming the heir and poor behavior, the mage suspected Minister Presi was plotting something, hence his claim that Alexiel was the actual successor in Arth's will. Anne affirmed she'd have Leonhart investigate and Irina awaited her friend's results.

After a failed assassination attempt on Princess Riliane, the court mage rushed to Prime Minister Genesia's quarters, certain Presi was involved. When she arrived, she heard noises coming from inside and noted that Presi was likely taking decisive action in response to their movements. Entering while calling to the Prime Minister, she discovered Genesia's lifeless corpse and noted she was too late, and that it was sad the minister had died, despite being perverted and unpleasant.

Hearing Presi in the room, Irina saw that the minister and Alexiel were sitting together and demanded to know why the prince was there. After seeing the meat he was eating, Irina grew fearful and asked what the prince had. Alexiel answered it was hare meat and Presi mocked how the sorceress thought he had been eating Genesia. To Irina stating that Presi was Genesia's killer, Presi admitted to poisoning him. Surprised he actually did the dirty deed himself, she declared it was over for him.

As he laughed maniacally, Irina deduced he had gone mad, and Presi said it wouldn't be over if he killed her, Leonhart, Mariam, and Riliane. As she began to retort, she noticed a change in Presi's previously non-existent magical power. Hearing the minister tell Alexiel he was "borrowing" something from inside him, the mage asked what power he was siphoning inside his body. Presi laughed and told her it was what she had been trying to find for the last five hundred years, and Irina realized it was a Demon of Sin.

As he laughed again, boasting his own power, Irina asked him about what his sister, Prim, would think if she saw him like that but the minister became completely possessed by the demon and she prepared to fight with a staff in hand. During their fight, Irina was overwhelmed by his demonic power. Before he could deal the final blow, Leonhart arrived and saved her. Fighting together, the two defeated and killed Presi and the court mage sealed the demon inside the hand mirror it came from, removing Alexiel's memories of his twin sister as an unintentional side effect.

Later, Irina read a book while her comrades spoke about the children each of them had adopted, Princess Riliane now Mariam's adopted daughter, "Rin". Leonhart then asked Irina if she would ever train an apprentice, since the sorceress was unlikely to marry. Irina bluntly told him, "Never," without averting her gaze from her book. While the number of wars during Queen Anne's rule decrease, Irina continued to work.

Fateful Days

"All in all, I cannot let him be the same as Venomania and Margarita... I must seek to prevent it from happening again."
―Irina regarding the possessed Alexiel

After Queen Anne's death in EC 499, Irina attended her friend and ruler's funeral alongside Leonhart and the weeping Prince Alexiel; at some point, she cried in private over her friend's demise. Later, the mage attended an assembly of ministers and the Prince in the Hall of Sounds. When Alexiel stood at the meeting, proclaiming his birthright to govern the nation, Irina noticed he was once again possessed by a Demon of Sin, more deeply rooted than before.

Once the conference ended, Irina met with Mariam and Leonhart. When Mariam voiced her discontent with the youthful prince ruling the nation despite there being no other appropriate heirs, Irina remarked that there was still Princess Rilaine and suggested that "Rin" make a return. The warrior responded that doing so would repeat the incident from seven years prior and that Alexiel would still not remember her. Irina then expressed the possibility of triggering his memory by reuniting them and, when questioned if she was serious, admitted it was a joke.

The mage elaborated that their original plan was to reunite the twins as adults and decide the ruler so they could do so anyhow. When criticized by Mariam, Irina reminded them that the Three Heroes weren't created from politics. After a long silence, Leonhart said he was fine with having Alexiel as a ruler rather than none and Irina joked how precarious their situation was given how Prime Minister Minis was the only other one aware of "Rin". Once Mariam and Leonhart decided to bring Rin in as a servant, the former sweetly spoke about the clumsy Riliane Mouchet; when the butler left, Irina warmly noted how the kind man was their assassin.

Afterwards, the mage said she'd retire to her room since she needed more of her beauty sleep, the mage was mortified by Mariam's joke she had noticeably swollen eyes. When the warrior voiced her hope for things to stay as they were, the mage replied that she knew more than anyone in her long life about people's deaths. The warrior bluntly countered that everyone had the right to mourn over people's deaths, regardless of how long they lived. The mage immediately kicked her in the shin, calling her an idiot.

While laying on her bed in her room, Irina considered how she thought she could no longer cry after living for so long, recalling the tears she shed for her friends. She drifted to sleep while noting she was better off alone. Receiving a prediction dream of the Prince being executed, the royal palace assaulted, Elphegort invaded, and Leonhart lying dead in the Heavenly Yard, Irina awoke, startled. Considering both Arth and Anne's deaths, the mage told herself it was natural for people to die and resolved to continue her original mission for the vessels of sin.

The next day, she summoned Leonhart to the Hall of Mirrors. Once the Head of Servants entered, she attempted to backstab him while he was looking at the Hall's artwork. Leonhart quickly disarmed her with a kick that knocked the weapon from the mage's hand. Irina complimented Leonhart for his reaction and jestingly complained about his "kicking habit".

She joked with Leonhart that because she was preparing to leave Lucifenia, she needed to kill everyone who knew her. Leonhart pointed out that toy knives couldn't kill people, demonstrating its retractable dagger. When the butler noted the sophistication, Irina pointed out she had planned to use it on him before he dodged it.

The curious Leonhart asked why and Irina told him she no longer held an obligation to stay in the country now that both Arth and Anne had died, having fulfilled her contract to them. Leonhart told her she didn't change and the two jested about Irina's magical power and her seemingly eternal youth. Asking if the butler was interested in knowing her secret, he flatly rejected the notion and Irina remarked how cold his words could be, playing around about her childish personality.

Irina then insisted she leave Lucifenia despite Leonhart's pleads, stating her twenty years of service was enough. To settle Leonhart's distress, Irina told her she would train a new court mage to master magic for the Kingdom, saying it would only take two or three years if they had the talent. When Leonhart questioned if she already found someone, the mage teased that she was suddenly expandable if she had successors.

Before Leonhart could interject, he noticed someone come in and Irina looked to see Kyle behind her. Irina listened to Leonhart's son relay Mariam's message for the head butler to look at the new servant girl. Leonhart returned the knife, stating they'd continue their discussion another day and left with his foster child. Although curious to see Rin's appearance, she realized it was best she left. As she made her exit, playing with her toy knife, she questioned if two to three years was enough time and whether she'd actually be simply leaving the country after all.

Just then, Prime Minister Minis saw her and asked if she was leaving. She told him that she was heading for Elphegort to receive an apprentice and denied Minis' offer of sending one of the palace guards to do it for her. After asking him if he still preferred young girls, referring to Rin, the insulted Minis reminded her to keep the princess' identity a secret; the mage responding that she was aware and, disinterested in hearing Minis ramble, she left.

Irina meets with Sickle regarding Alexiel and the vessels of sin

"Hmm, for spirits to reincarnate into humans and to develop a mastery of magic... Your ideas are so whimsical. Reincarnation is your specialty, so it’s not impossible..."
"That’s true. C’mon, give me two or three of your companions.
"
―Sickle and Irina

Meeting with Sickle at the Millennium Tree Forest, she asked him if she could reincarnate one of his spirits as a human to help her prevent Lucifenia's destruction. When the Millennium Tree became sidetracked, she reprimanded him and pressured her old friend to give her an answer. The earth deity was in disbelief that such a massive country could be destroyed, and Irina responded it was due to the Demons of Sin.

The sorceress then described Alexiel's repossession, expressing that general purification magic was useless. After explaining she required an apprentice to help cast the Clockwork Secret Art, Sickle reminded her how she destroyed her own country last time, but Irina assured the doubtful deity that she would not fail again. She then expressed confusion regarding Alexiel still being under demonic possession while looking at the mirror she sealed.

Sickle suggested it was possible that the vessel of sin she sealed was only a piece, and that the original vessel was split apart. Brushing it aside, Irina criticized herself for failing to prevent the disasters by Venomania and Blankenheim and was determined to prevent Lucifenia's destruction. When asked by Sickle the details of her dreams, Irina described the four images she had seen and clarified that Lucifenia's invasion was purple and could not be avoided.

The earth deity asked what the mage would do if her plan failed and she responded that she would flee and avoid being caught up in the mess. When Sickle responded that she wanted to leave because she didn't want to see her loved ones die and repeat the Levianta Catastrophe, Irina punched the tree deity in the "face" to vent her anger, telling him to shut up.

After hurting her hand, the poised Sickle told her it was not her place to serve justice, as it may or may not be better for Lucifenia to be destroyed. She then told her old friend she knew, but that since this was caused by the vessels of sin, it was her duty to stop the problem before it even occurred. As Sickle began to sleep before actually answering her question about her apprentice, she yelled at him to wake up, then angrily kicked his roots.

After being struck by a pomegranate fruit to the back of her head, Irina turned around to find Gumi and Michaela, in their animal spirit forms, responsible for throwing the fruit at her, and the mage replied to Gumi that she was not bullying Sickle. When berated by Michaela for using violence, Irina pointed out her hypocrisy for throwing the fruit at her. Seeing Sickle was still asleep, she left saying she would return. When Gumi flew to Irina's shoulder and the two briefly spoke about the spirit's knowledge of humans and how Sickle refused to let her leave the forest.

As she left, Irina thought that her apprentice should be one of them. On her way back, she saw a girl picking fruits and decided to spy on her. Watching from some bushes, Irina noted she was from the Netsuma Clan and that she had bruises. As the girl left, she heard her apologize for being alive and, although disturbed, decided to ignore it. Reminded of Sickle's words, she considered he was right that she preferred escaping from problems. Once the girl was gone, she returned to the palace before it got dark, out of fear of being reprimanded by Leonhart.

While walking through the halls, Leonhart found the mage and noted her journey to Elphegort. Irina teasingly questioned if he was worried and the assassin brushed off notion, curious if she found a disciple. Irina admitted she hadn't yet and the butler lectured her to avoid crossing the border as much as possible in order to avoid political issues between the two kingdoms.

Irina then recalled Kyle's previous interruption and asked what Rin was like. As Leonhart described the boy's polite and humble nature, confident she and Alexiel would be together forever, the two heard the Prince threaten to behead the girl and Irina saw the fleeing servant get tackled by her twin. Watching Leonhart surmise the situation, Irina was shown Alexiel's "wins" over Rin by the hair pieces he put on her and was surprised to see Leonhart fix up the poorly made bows.

With serious, watchful eyes, the mage witnessed the Prince maliciously deny Leonhart's plea to not threaten execution so whimsically before leaving. When Leonhart voiced his concern that the other ministers would notice the twins' resemblance to one another, Irina stated she'd convince them otherwise. In response to Leonhart's disbelief, Irina assured him many in the world looked alike and so it being a coincidence was believable.

Suddenly reminded of the Netsuma she saw, the mage asked if any of the white-haired race still existed in Elphegort. Although Leonhart expressed uncertainty, given the lessened but still existing discrimination there, he told her not to worry about whatever she saw. Irina reflected that she had simply seen a clumsy girl that reminded her of Alexiel and then asked why the butler fixed Rin's bow. The confused Leonhart replied that it was messed up and the amused sorceress joked about the cuteness of his action.

Reincarnating the Spirits

"So, have you made a decision? Have you considered it?"
"Considered what?"
"Don't try to stear up the topic, old man! I want a forest spirit to become human and become my apprentice.
"
―Irina and the amnesic Sickle

About two weeks thereafter, Irina returned to the Millennium Tree Forest and arrived to overhear Sickle lecture Gumi about how spirits, and even gods, should not interact with humans. She interrupted them saying that she never would have expected him to say that and asked why he did send her on her mission if that were true. After the spirit justified it was because of it being "sin" that he sent a human to gather them instead of interfering himself, the sorceress asked if he had made his decision. Realizing the Millennium Tree no longer remembered their conversation, she angrily seethed at the earth deity.

Once she calmed down, she looked up toward the northeast sky and said that she felt the sins breath and believed Sickle was correct about the mirror being split into fragments, feeling a vessel of sin in Elphegort. Sickle agreed, after a long moment of silence, to give her two spirits: one to train as her apprentice and the other to search for the sin fragment in Elphegort. Surprised by his swift answer, Irina listened as the deity explained how the sin that originated from his forest was his responsibility and that because he had pushed that responsibility onto Irina, he desired to help as best he could before he departed from the world.

Settling for taking Michaela and Gumi, and agreeing to return them to their spirit forms after three years, Irina took the two spirits west to find a more suitable spot for her astronomical ritual. Along the way, Irina told Gumi to follow her own will and that Sickle most likely wanted her to understand humans by sending her on this journey with the sorceress. They arrived at their destination and, after drawing a symbol on the ground, Irina began the ceremony, asking for them to imagine the faces of beautiful Elphegort women. When Gumi asked why women, Irina told her because she wanted them to and finished her preparations and reincarnated them in the forms they imagined.

Mage Training

"How is it, Gumi? Can you hear anything?"
―Irina instructing her disciple

After the ritual was complete, Irina was confused to see Michaela choose the appearance of Eve Moonlit. Irina found an abandoned house in the Forest of Bewilderment and sheltered the three of them there to practice their magic and learn the basics about being human. She trained the two and occasionally returned to the palace before coming back.

One day, the mage was awoken by Gumi as she banged two pans together. She commented how she woke up early as usual and told her she was getting up, annoyed by the sound the reincarnated spirit was making. Staring at her face, she told Gumi how a woman's charm was in her eyes and that she should remember to wash her face from time to time. After three months training the former spirits, Irina watched as Gumi practiced singing the "Lu Li La" spell to sense the location of the vessels of sin and told her that she just needed practice, and to master the basics she taught her.

During their last supper together that same day, Irina commented that the vessel of sin was likely in the hands of either King Sohni Elphen, Duke Parkage Meld, or Keel Freesis, in Aceid. Seeing Gumi look pale, she asked if the spirit was sick and warned her of the diseases she was vulnerable to as a human. She gave her some medical herbs and sent her to bed.

The next day, Irina awoke Gumi after she and Michaela packed their luggage and asked if she was feeling better. Once Gumi and Michaela said their heartfelt goodbyes, Irina told them they had three years to accomplish their objective and looked forward to seeing the three of them together again. Afterward, she left with Michaela for Lucifenia. During their journey through the forest,  Irina noticed that her apprentice seemed concerned about her surroundings. When she asked what was wrong, Michaela begrudging admitted her eyes were bad.

Examining her, the sorceress asked for how long and the green-haired apprentice clarified that it was since her human reincarnation. Shocked, Irina pondered how she could have made an error in the ritual and queried how far she could see. When Michaela pointed out a Rollam bird perched on a faraway tree, saying she could see its eye color, Irina said that was more than enough. After remarking how pretending to be a human while not pretending to not see that far would be bad, Michaela explained how she simply couldn't see things close to her just fine, noting the inconvenience.

Confused, Michaela clarified for her that she could see that close beforehand, hence the inconvenience. Realizing what was wrong, Irina explained that birds and humans had different ranges of vision, so her eyesight was fine for a human. After a brief silence, Michaela reiterated it was inconvenient and the sorceress replied that it couldn't be helped. Seeing her stare off silently in thought, Irina reluctantly conjured a pair of glasses and placed them on her, asking if she'd finally be satisfied.

While Michaela looked amazed at her improved eyesight, Irina commented that her old vision field was probably farther. Conceding that it was fine, the sorceress said she would give them to Michaela but encouraged her to use magic instead, saying she was forcing her vision to widen and that the current her would get dizzy. Having ignored her, Michaela collapsed and Irina suavely caught her.

The sorceress removed the glasses, saying she needed practice. Asking her to only use them when they were searching for things, the mage explained how it would be easier to search if her vision was wider. As her apprentice argued they were searching for the vessels of sin while trying to get the glasses back, Irina kept them out of her reach.

The mage then said that she was the only one searching for them while Michaela was just her support. Looking at them, the sorceress mused how if she were ever discovered with the glasses, it wouldn't cause any trouble. She then said her apprentice couldn't wear them in her presence unless they were actually looking for something. When Michaela asked why, Irina put on the glasses, describing how she disliked them because they ruined the sought after woman's image. After a long pause, Michaela said that was just like her and Irina thanked her for the apparent compliment before they continued on their journey to Lucifenia.

Reign of Evil

"Lucifenia shall perish soon enough."
―Irina's prophesy

Admitting her apprentice to the palace, Irina began training her magical talent in preparation for teaching the girl the Clockwork Secret Art; during that time, the sorceress told Michaela what she had learned about the Glass of Blankenheim and its powers. At some point, she overheard several of the ministers discuss Alexiel and Rin's resemblance. Pulling her influence as a wise prophet, the mage told them that there were always three people in the world that looked alike, hence their resemblance to one another. Around the same time, she began giving Rin healing ointment that she made.

In EC 500, she attended Mariam's funeral after she was assassinated. Approaching her gravestone, she called her an idiot before leaving with Michaela. About nine months since training them, Irina received the sign from Gumi that she located a vessel of sin. Since Rin was heading into Elphegort, she ordered Michaela to give the servant the Very Amazing Green Onion to give to Gumi. After Michaela did so, Irina called for her apprentice and the former spirit obeyed.

Later that night, the sorceress contacted Gumi through the Very Amazing Green Onion. Hearing Gumi's report, Irina learned that she had found Keel Freesis in possession of the Venom Sword while she was working for him and that Sarah Venom was plotting to obtain it. Irina determined that the vessel of Lust was not the source of the problem due to Alexiel being arrogant and not lustful.

She then told Gumi to watch the vessel in case it would cause trouble in the future and noted the nostalgia in hearing Sarah's name. Questioned by Gumi, she explained how she was her former comrade and now her enemy, knowing Sarah's purpose for searching for the sword. When Gumi asked about Michaela, the court mage told her she was fine and that she would be able to use the Clockwork Secret Art within the next six months, praising her skill. As their signal began to fade, Irina reminded her disciple to contact her if something serious occurred and to remain there and relax.

The next day, Irina attended the conference in the palace's Hall of Sounds regarding the diplomatic missions to Marlon and Elphegort. As the minister's discussions of Rin's report began to drag, Irina summarized that they needed to carefully watch Keel Freesis and not let their guard down, congratulating Rin for her work. When Minis brought in Queen Dowager Prim's gift later on, Irina was dazzled by the sight of a baby ziz tiama and identified it as a "Very Amazing Octopus" to the curious Rin, answering that everything about it was amazing.

At the behest of the disgusted Alexiel, Irina took the gift and held it in its glass container. After hearing Minis reveal that Queen Germaine withdrew her engagement to Alexiel in favor of a green-haired girl he met, the sorceress asked in disbelief if Germaine's mother actually agreed to the decision. Minis answered that the Queen Dowager decided to respect her daughter's decision without giving her personal opinion.

Several days later, Irina was in Alexiele's room when Leonhart returned from Elphegort to report any discoveries on the identity of Germaine's secret lover. Hearing that Leonhart remained clueless, Irina added that they only knew that she was a "green-haired girl" and that everyone in Elphegort matched that profile. She then watched as Alexiel threw a tantrum before ordering Minis to invade Elphegort and slaughter its population of green-haired women.

When Alexiel ordered the Prime Minister to burn the Forest of Bewilderment for the invasion, Irina interrupted and angrily attempted to reason with the prince, explaining that burning the forest out of envy would provoke a disaster by the god living there. As she justified that when killing people and capturing countries for her parents, they did to protect others from war, Alexiel ordered Irina's death.

The furious court mage immediately resigned, daring the prince to send someone after her if he intended to kill her. As she left, Leonhart chased after her. In response to his friend's pleas to not leave, the sorceress responded that with Arth and Anne dead, her tasks in Lucifenia had ended and that she wanted to leave with Michael to protect her from Alexiel's genocide. After Leonhart asked what she would do next, Irina told him that she would rest and then travel.

As she said she may even leave for the Eastern countries, she noticed Rin was watching them and cursed. Smiling, the court mage asked the servant if she was planning stop her or kill her on her brother's orders. She then revealed her prediction of Lucifenia's inevitable demise and that neither she nor Leonhart could have prevented Mariam's death. Irina wondered if her words convinced her to flee like her, and was surprised to hear her decide to remain by Alexiel's side and protect her nation.

She then brushed off the topic and told her to take good care of her brother. Turning back to the teary-eyed Leonhart, Irina described how the time she spent with him and Mariam made her happy and that she would stay longer if Rin had not been present. Telling her friend to take advantage of those not yet killed before saying her goodbyes, Irina left.

Green Hunting

"Ahhhhh! Enough! You're all fools! Alexiel, Marlon’s queen, Rin and Mariam too! Everyone is an idiot!"
―Irina to Gumi

Collecting Michaela and leaving the palace, Irina headed to the Forest of Bewilderment. With the help of her apprentice, Irina used the Very Amazing Octopus she received to conjure a rainstorm to douse the fires burning the Forest of Bewilderment. The two left after seeing the Lucifenian soldiers retreat back to the palace and headed deeper into the forest. Exhausted, they sat down and Irina lamented over wasting such a rare octopus. Praising Michaela again, she noted how her magic improved.

The sorceress told her apprentice she was glad they were able to control the fire before the Millennium Tree was burned when Ney Futapie) suddenly approached her. The daughter of Mariam offered the two shelter at her home, but the mage mischievously told her it was a kind gesture and refused, believing it would cause problems since they were being hunted by the Lucifenian army. With that, Irina stood up with her apprentice and disappeared into the forest's depths.

The sorceress then contacted Gumi through the spirit's Very Amazing Green Onion. Frantic, Irina told her she needed to escape from Elphegort and explained how her "purple" dreams were becoming reality. After explaining the situation, the panicked mage told Gumi they were lessening the mortality rate and that Germaine's lover was giving her a headache. Gumi apologized and explained how she had been Germaine's lover and told her the circumstances. Anxious, Irina told her she needed to escape, being Alexiel's target, and explained that Michaela was safe with her.

When Gumi showed concern for the innocent civilians that would be killed in the Green Hunting, Irina said she had friends in Elphegort's palace and would attempt to curb the casualties until Lucifenia would fall by her predicted revolution. Wanting to guarantee Gumi's safety, the sorceress ordered her to head North of the city of Aceid, to a place where she could use magic to cast a reincarnation spell to return to her forest spirit form. Once Gumi interrupted and told her she wanted to remain a human and not leave those she cared about, Irina cried.

After a long silence, the mage ranted how she, Alexiel, Germaine, Rin, and Mariam were all fools and that everyone was an idiot. Irina later screamed in shock after she overheard Michaela tell Gumi she too didn't want to return to her spirit form. Once she finally composed herself, the mage noted that Sickle would be disappointed in them. After learning about Gumi's hiding place in a well in the Millennium Tree Forest, Irina recognized the location and told her they would meet her there once everything calmed down, telling her not to die before ending the transmission.

She and Michaela went to Keel Freesis' mansion only to find it burned down. They infiltrated the nearby barracks to retrieve the Venom Sword but discovered the vessel of sin was missing and collected the rest of his property instead. After a short rest, they headed to Gumi's hiding spot. However, they arrived to find Germaine clutching Gumi's corpse, crying. While attempting to pry the Queen from her body, the two mages dealt with Germaine's kicking and screaming.

Around that time, Irina noticed Germaine had been possessed by the Demon of Lust. After the Queen left, they retrieved Gumi's body and then witnessed it become tree saplings. Astonished, they visited Sickle and confronted him about the issue. They then learned that Gumi was chosen by the earth god to succeed him as the Millennium Tree. Angered, the sorceress argued with him before the deity spoke with Gumi and returned to his slumber.

Refuge

"I'm used to it."
―Irina regarding her recent failures

During the Lucifenian Revolution, the two traveled to the Freesis Mansion in Marlon to explain what had occurred to Keel. The merchant, surprised by the revelation about Gumi, told them to give the sapling to Clarith. The two women revealed they managed to recover Keel's property from his burned-down mansion and, after some negotiation, returned them to him. Grateful, the merchant abided Irina's request to hide them from Lucifenia and give her the Venom Sword. While there, Irina sealed the Venom Sword, noting its magic felt weak, and was surprised to see Keel's wife, Mikina, there.

After hiding out for some time during EC 501, the two returned to Lucifenia once The Son of Evil was executed and traveled to the Sickle Monastery in Elphegort in search for Gumi's cherished human friend. Finding her at the monastery, Irina approached the white-haired girl and introduced herself and Michaela before offering her Gumi's sapling, telling her it was her "precious friend". Seeing Clarith's confused expression, Irina asked to be served tea while she explained the story.

Once she had drunken some of her black tea, Irina began relating the truth to her. When she revealed Gumi was a spirit, she was surprised by Clarith's lack of surprise but realized her reasons and continued. She then described how they found Gumi's body and commented that she believed Germaine also contributed to her death and explained how she was chosen as the next guardian of the world by Sickle, bitterly admitting she was fooled by the "old man".

After her tea was refilled, she thanked Clarith and told her what Keel told them and that Michaela was reluctant to hand her over to the white-haired girl. After a short silence between the master and apprentice, Irina said they would let Gumi decide, and beckoned Michaela to conjure a manifestation of Gumi's human form from the sapling for Clarith and her to see. Irina petulantly asked who "won" and, after it was decided, left Gumi in Clarith's possession before departing with Michaela.

About a week later, Irina returned with Michaela to check on Clarith. They secretly spied on her and observed that Alexiel was with her. The sorceress decided to leave the situation alone, concluding that Alexiel should no longer be affected by the Demon of Pride. Despite failing to stop the revolution, learn why Alexiel was once again possessed by a demon, and learn why the same demon had vanished, she did not act bothered by it and told Michael she was used to it. Irina, proud to have acquired the vessel of Lust, decided to head to the East with her apprentice in search for the vessels of sin and the two stopped in an inn in Asmodean.

While there, she examined the sword and realized the Demon of Lust was absent from the weapon. Infuriated, she screamed and tore off the seal before flinging the blade, explaining to Michaela her revelation. In her frustration, she came to another revelation and took out the mirror of Lucifenia she sealed from her luggage, and tore off its seal. Seeing that the Demon of Pride was absent from its vessel as well, she collapsed to the ground, distraught and telling her apprentice that the demon had vanished, even though she was certain it was inside the mirror when she sealed it.

Michaela asked if it was possible for the demons to disappear from their vessels and Irina denied it, saying their original bodies remained in the vessel even if they possessed humans. After the shocked sorceress sat motionless for a short while, she stood up, began packing her luggage, and told Michaela their trip to the East was cancelled until they figured out what happened to the demons.

Witch Hunt

"What happened after you and Michaela left this house five years ago."
"It's a long story."
―Shaw and Irina

Michaela and Irina returned to Lucifenia and began spying for information. As part of their search, Irina had them pursure Queen Germaine since she had been possessed by the Demon of Lust during their last meeting. With the Queen annexing Lucifenia as part of Marlon, Irina and Michaela infiltrated the royal palace where she resided and learned the Demon of Lust was gone and she had since been possessed by the Demon of Pride.

Once they found that Germaine owned another one of the hand mirrors for the vessel, they attempted to steal it that night from her bedroom. In the midst of their theft, the Queen awoke and discovered their actions. Forced to flee, the two lost possession of the Venom Sword during their escape; they were later added to the "Witch Hunt" decreed by Queen Germaine. Suspicious that Germaine's two consecutive possessions weren't simply a coincidence, Irina decided to investigate Queen Dowager Prim.

In EC 502, the two traveled to the Marlon as part of their investigation. While attempting to find Prim at Marlon Castle, they were instead ambushed by the Espionage Task Force and the sorceress, Abyss L.U. Not expecting there to be other powerful mages left, Irina was unprepared and was quickly defeated by Abyss in battle. As her body was taken by the sorceress, Irina used the Body Swap Technique to place her soul in Michaela's body as she fled.

Reunited with the Apprentice

"So your body had been hijacked by Abyss..."
―King Kyle[src]

In EC 505, when Abyss L.U. attempted to take Michaela's body as well, Irina's spirit called out and wrestled control of her body from the sorceress, sending both women flying in the air. Ney then attempted to slay the incapacitated Irina but Michaela stopped her. She then explained to her apprentice, Ney, and Shaw why she had gone missing.

After Michaela fainted from exhaustion, Irina followed Ney as she took the apprentice to her room. Once there, when Shaw asked the sorceress if it was really her, Irina commented that it was good to be back in her old body. A servant then entered the room and offered milk to her; in response, Irina squinted and remarked that milk was not a drink, telling him to bring her tea instead and adding that she would take lemon tea.

She then sat in the chair opposite Shaw and Ney as the servant left. After Shaw asked her what had happened five years ago when she and Michaela left the mansion last, Irina noted that it was a long story and said she would say the short version. She then explained how the Demon of Lust had been missing from the Venom Sword, stopping to ask if she needed to explain the Demons of Sin. After Shaw affirmed what he knew, the sorceress continued her narration.

Irina added then how she had gone to the Lucifenian Royal Palace to find the Demon of Lust in Germaine; as Shaw questioned if the queen's transformation had been due to the Demon of Lust, she clarified that it was the Demon of Pride, the Lust demon having left by that point. After Shaw mused at increased sex drive being one of the Demon of Lust's effects, Irina responded that Germaine's passion for Gumi was likely due to the demon, although she likely didn't know it.

She continued to explain how Germaine was then possessed by the Demon of Pride and had picked fights with other countries due to her confidence. When Shaw commented that the queen was tricked by the demon, Irina agreed but said someone else must have been the cause, adding that it would be impossible for Germaine to be possessed by the demons in such a manner.

From there Irina explained how she and Michaela had gone to Marlon to investigate Prim, only for her to be captured by Abyss L.U. and the Espionage Task Force and escape using the Body Swap Technique on Michaela. When, following her explanation, Shaw asked who Abyss L.U. was Elluka stated she didn't know, having destroyed her soul, before muttering that she could've been the Ma of 500 years ago since she also seemed to have the body swap technique.

When Shaw asked about what she said, Irina apologized and said it didn't concern them. She then stopped, seeing the red cat from the battle walk into the room. After wondering aloud if it was looking for its lost owner and concluding it couldn't be helped, Irina heard Shaw's suggestion that she raise the cat and refused, citing that she hated them and asking the girl to keep it.

While the three of them debated, the sorceress saw Mikina Freesis enter after the cat and catch sight of the sorceress. Mikina commented on how it had been a long time since seeing her and Irina confirmed that she had returned, noting her attachment to the red cat. After Mikina announced she was adopting the cat, Irina remained in the mansion with the others for the time being, staying in Michaela's room.

Petition for Aid

While drinking black tea with Michaela in her room, Ney came in with Germaine Marlon and the sorceress waved at her, introducing herself. After sipping her tea in her seat, she explained what had happened to her. When Germaine said she was glad she was back to her original form, she turned away and said she couldn't be, given how she chased after her and Michaela previously as "witches". Germaine insisted she was not herself at the time and that she shouldn't have snuck into the palace in the first place. Irina replied that, as the Lucifenian Palace was her original abode, she didn't have to ask for permission.

When Germaine attempted to brush their past conflicts aside, Irina chided that she shouldn't apologize to her but to Michaela. Afterwards, Germaine explained how the dead soldiers were sighted up north and that Prim and Kyle both seemed to be at Castle Hedgehog, hence why she planned to soon march her armies upon the castle. Once she asked if they'd help her subdue the undead soldiers, Irina immediately refused. She went on to complain that she and Michaela were greatly weakened from the fight with Abyss L.U. and that they wouldn't be able to use much magic until the next full moon.

As Germaine began suggesting she delay the invasion, Irina interrupted and told the Queen that if she did, she would be attacking her opponent when they were also at their most powerful and that, even if they won, it would come at a great cost. Noticing Germaine was mentally calculating the time til the next full moon, Irina noted that she would have to wait roughly a month til that point and Germaine retorted that they couldn't wait that long. Then, when Germaine asked about the dead soldiers power currently, Irina quietly replied that a new moon was approaching, when their magic power was at its weakest.

After the Queen haggled for Ney's support, Germaine thanked Irina for the advice and began to leave when Michela spoke up, saying she'd enchant the weapons of the Queen's soldiers. Seeing the two share a moment when she thanked her, the mage pulled the two apart and teased that she wouldn't want to continue their conversation without her teacher. As Michaela told her it was best to cooperate with Germaine, Irina demanded to know her reasoning and the mage reminded her of the Glass of Blankenheim. Admitting she had completely forgotten about it, she poured more tea for herself and sat back down.

When Michaela brought out two of the vessel of Pride's mirrors, Irina nodded and added that Prim may still have the last piece. She then noted that unless all mirrors were sealed, the Demon of Pride might be restored, and the same with the Demon of Gluttony. Leaning back in her chair while looking at the ceiling, Irina thought it over before finally agreeing to cooperate, though adding that she and Michaela wouldn't have a very large role. She then saw the eavesdropping Shaw leap at Germaine and beg her to let him accompany her. Afterwards, the mage watched as Germaine convinced him to stay behind and be promptly beat up by an overprotective Keel.

Tides of Battle

Over the next few days, Michaela and Irina engraved enchantments into all the soldiers' weapons to help them combat the supernatural threat. Having not yet given out all the provisions to the troops, the two mages traveled with the army to Lioness and helped oversee the repartioning of the weapons in the main square. While Germaine oversaw the event with her, Irina stated she'd flee immediately if the town became a battlefield, explaining she was like any weak girl without magic.

The mage then noticed the odd device hanging from Germaine's sheath and questioned what it was. As Germaine explained it was Riliane's rocket glove, the sorceress listened intently and then took the rocket-propelled tool and inscribed a more powerful enchantment into it with a knife. Satisfied with her modification, she returned the weapon to Germaine and stated she simply added a spell to it, certain she'd know when to use it. During the battle across the Blood Pool Region, the mages remained at Lioness Castle to avoid the undead soldiers while in their weakened state.

After the battle, Irina met with Germaine, Keel, Shaw, Ney, and Michaela in one of the castle's bedrooms while the Marlon Queen explained what had transpired with Queen Dowager Prim and Kyle. After Germaine presented the Glass, hand mirrors, and doll she had. Intrigued by the doll resembling Eve Moonlit, Irina questioned if that was really. While Germaine explained how her mother said it was modeled after the "Original Mother" and was probably one of the vessels, Irina meticulously examined it and agreed with her assessment.

She then told Michaela to take out the vessels she had. Once the Venom Sword and two mirrors Michaela had were placed alongside the other vessels in Germaine's cabinet, Irina admired them contentedly; she then pointed out that they had four vessels, assuming there were only four mirrors for the vessel of Pride, and cheered for their accomplishment. Her expression quickly changed to loneliness, expressing her disappointment that Germaine seemed to not hear about what happened with the Venom Sword from Prim.

When Shaw expressed his belief that they should tell Kyle the truth, Irina made a small sigh and noted how, based on Germaine's testimony, no one could vouch for Kyle. Shaw then glared at her, responding that the demon had broken Kyle's spirit. Asked if she was sure she couldn't heal her, Irina retorted that magic wasn't omnipotent and that it was unlikely to succeed even if they tried.

Michaela then spoke up, saying they should still try, expressing her desire to hear the assassin admit he'd kill Gumi and apologize. After some time deep in thought while stroking the unconscious and bound Kyle's head, Irina conceded to do it, lamenting how it was a time-consuming effort. Once they determined what to do with her, Irina said they'd need to return to Bariti and prepare first, commanding Michaela to collect the vessels.

The group then heard a rattling sound outside the room. Keel offered to check it out, claiming to be the only one uninjured in some form, and they heard him talking to someone outside the room before being swiftly interrupted by a dull sound. After the door opened and the room was enveloped by a blue flash, Irina was rendered unconscious. Once she and the others awoke, they discovered the vessels of sin missing, Keel seriously injured, and Kyle dead. Elluka was then taken to another room to check if she needed treatment.

New Four Horsemen

Irina and Michaela stayed in Marlon for a while before learning from Shaw that Abyss L.U. had taken Mikina's body and fled to the Sickle Monastery in Lucifenia. The mages then recovered some of the vessels of sin from Mikina and they resumed their quest. In EC 508, they became involved in the New Four Horsemen Incident caused by Neo Apocalypse and Abyss L.u. Around this time, Irinaa lost the Glass of Blankenheim to the villainous sorceress. At some point, Irina met with Yukina Freesis and she agreed that Irina was allowed to freely utilize the wealth and power of the Freesis Foundation, forging a contract.

Père Noël

"I told you to escape with me!"
―Irina to the dying Lucie

Following the mysterious Toragay Serial Killings caused by Banica Conchita in EC 609, Irina arrived to survey the murder scene while searching for the vessel of Sloth. Seeing the carnage, she commented on how appalling it was. When Michaela arrived, she thanked her for her work and asked what she learned. Hearing her apprentice's assessment that the vessel of Sloth was gone, and that Platonic Abelard was connected to the incident, Irina decided they needed to further investigate Père Noël, and left with Michaela for Lucifenia.

Once there, they infiltrated the criminal organization and the sorceress adopted the codename VII. the Magician. While working for the organization in EC 610, Irina discovered that, V. the Pierrot, was a reincarnation of Gretel and approached her, trying to convince her to flee with her from Père Noël. Instead, she tattled to I. the Santa about Irina's treachery, and the sorceress fled by the next day without him. Conceding this, Irina ordered Michaela to shoot her while she was out on her next murder mission. After her apprentice did so, she scoffed at the dying Pierrot for not escaping with her and laughed as she died.

Shortly after, Irina received a letter from the criminal that revealed her identity to be that of Elluka. Challenging Irina with the message that she would be waiting at Merrigod Plateau, the sorceress traveled with Michaela to the highlands in EC 611 and battled "Platonic", defeating her.

Enbizaka Murders

"They seemed to have a complex about their looks; she was envious of Irina's appearance and vice-versa."
―Ma

Around EC 842, Irina traveled east to Snakeland, settling in Enbizaka. During her time there, she met the town's popular tailor, Kayo Sudou; after learning the tailor was envious of Lilien's appearance, she swapped bodies with her. Around this time, Irina realized Kayo's pair of scissors was the vessel of Envy and left a fake pair of scissors with the tailor while she kept the real pair.

Personality and Traits

"Stop talking like a little girl... Seriously, whether it’s your appearance or your character, you're still the same."
"Or am I?
"
―Leonhart and Irina

Irina was often relaxed and lackadaisical with half-opened eyes and a sensually bored expression. She usually brushed comments or situations aside and acted playful or teasing towards others to provoke them. Despite this apparent calm demeanor, she had a tendency to mood swing and acted very whimsical and capricious. Sickle often incited her and she usually vented her anger toward him by attacking the earth deity, earning Gumi's label as a "bully". When faced with stressful or painful situations, she tried to escape instead of face them. She also was concerned with her appearance and preferred to be associated with beautiful women. As a result, she had a distaste for glasses and demanded Michaela only use them when they were actually looking for the vessels of sin.

Irina struggled with showing affection to others and acted superficially apathetic, blunt, and unsympathetic, insulting Mariam at her funeral before leaving. Despite this, she cared for her friends and attempted to prevent their deaths or ease their misfortune as best she can. Irina had a strange fascination with octopi and liked black tea. She also hated cats, which contrasted her sister-in-law Elluka's adoration of them.

Skills and Abilities

"Oh, if you mean a privileged mage with a warehouse full of magic, then yes."
―Irina, touting her skills

Irina was a powerful sorceress and was regarded with respect by her peers. Her power as a witch was great enough that she was selected as a candidate to rule the Magic Kingdom, and was able to attain the position as Lucifenia's court mage. The sorceress's most notable ability was her inherent youth and immortality. Irina also wielded Body Swap technique which allowed her to swap her consciousness with that of others. When exchanging bodies, all her magical talents and abilities, such as her immortality, transferred to the new body. As a drawback, the body eventually began to decay, requiring a new body swap after around seven centuries.

After acquiring Lilien's body, she wielded the ability to use Purple Dream and could dream of the possible futures. Her visions showed only images that she could recognize. On top of that, her foresight's reliability was based on the "color" of the image. If the dream was "purple" then it was destined to occur and could not be changed. Her foretelling skills as Lucifenia's court mage earned her a reputation due to their flawless precision. She was a master of reincarnation magic, capable of incarnating the spirit of any being as another entity, such as a human or an animal, after preparing the necessary ritual.

She was also powerful with cleansing magic, able to remove the Demons of Sin even when they were purposefully made difficult to exorcise. She was also capable of casting Clockworker Magic but preferred not to cast it due to its heavy risks. Irina was also skilled in using a ziz tiama octopus, able to cast a powerful rainstorm when sacrificing it and able to grow one to an enormous size for offensive purposes.

Character Connections

Sickle: A friend of Irina's. Irina cared deeply for Sickle, going on her quest to gather the sins on his behalf and becoming protective of him when the god was in danger. She would often take counsel from the him over the course of her quest; nonetheless, she was often vexed by his tendency to point out her own faults or fall asleep mid-conversation, and was infuriated when he withheld information from her. Due to his inability to feel pain, Irina often took her anger out on Sickle's physical form.

Kiril Clockworker: Irina's brother. Irina cared for Kiril deeply and she experienced great regret for losing him, fleeing rather than experience the pain of watching him die.

Elluka Chirclatia: Irina's sister-in-law. Elluka and Irina lived in peace during the former's engagement to Kiril, wishing to protect her in Project 'Ma' after hearing her declaration of support. While regretting her loss as a sister and unaware of her continued existence after the Levianta Catastrophe, Irina often came up against Elluka over the course of her quest, both suspicious of L.U. and antagonistic towards Abyss L.U for spreading chaos in Evillious. Similarly, she came to attack Elluka's other alias Platonic Abelard directly.

Lilien Turner: A body Irina swapped into. Elluka swapped bodies with the magically-receptive Lukana to keep the latter out of I.R's hands, although she also appreciated the woman's magical potential. She preferred this body for several hundred years, although appearing to discard it for Kayo's.

Michaela: Irina's apprentice. Irina found Michaela to be a useful apprentice due to her magic potential, though she was often annoyed by her straight-laced nature and by her being overprotective to a fault. She greatly cared for Michaela's well-being, such as when taking her away from the Green Hunting, and had the forest spirit accompany her throughout many centuries. She trusted her to handle difficult tasks, like working in Père Noël.

Gumi: A disciple of Irina's. Irina would occasionally play with Gumi as a spirit; finding her to be easy to reason with and, later, useful for gathering the sins. As a friend, Irina cared deeply for Gumi's well-being, such as in aiding her during the Green Hunting and becoming incensed when the latter chose to remain a human during this time, risking her life.

Leonhart Avadonia: A fellow member of the Three Heroes. Irina and Leonhart had a deep friendship cultivated over the course of the Lucifenian Expansion War. She was impressed by Leonhart's fighting skills, although amused by his serious and overprotective nature and habit for kicking, as well as disagreeing with his tolerance for Alexiel's cruel regime. Irina enjoyed spending time with Leonhart and was greatly saddened by having to leave him, later mourning his death.

Mariam Futapie: A fellow member of the Three Heroes. Irina and Mariam had a deep friendship cultivated over the course of the Lucifenian Expansion War, although she had difficulty expressing this friendship, such as in calling her "dimwit" at her funeral, and was occasionally flustered by her forthright manner. She enjoyed spending time with her and was greatly saddened by her death, mourning her along with Leonhart.

Alexiel Lucifen d'Autriche: Irina's employer after Arth and Anne's death. Irina was expressed concern that he was being possessed by a Demon of Sin. She became outraged by Alexiel's selfish whims and disregard for the lives of others as a monarch, eventually leaving the palace at the commencement of the Green Hunting.

Lucie Abelard: A fellow member of Père Noël. Irina saw Lucie as too valuable to be left with Elluka, as a reincarnation of Gretel, thus attempting to make her leave with her. Because of her value, when she refused her offer she found it necessary to kill her instead, finding her eventual death humorous.

Kayo Sudou: A body Irina swapped into. After noticing Kayo's desire to have Lilien's body, Irina complied and swapped with the tailor. In addition, she attempted to prevent Kayo's possession from the Demon of Envy, although she was fruitless in this endeavor.
