Eve Moonlit, born Eve Zvezda and known posthumously as the Original Sinner, was a witch from Nemu in the Magic Kingdom Levianta and the wife of Adam Moonlit. Eve fell in love with Adam and became the first candidate of Project 'Ma', failing to birth her twins. Eve then fled with Adam to Held's Forest and the two married. Adopting the twins Hänsel and Gretel after she murdered their mother, ending up inside Grim the End and leeching off the Demon of Wrath.
History[]
Early Life[]
Eve, along with her twin brother Adam, was born in the Magic Kingdom Levianta in the BT 20s, the daughter of Queen Maria Moonlit. Despite Maria Moonlit's protests that the babies were a virgin conception, the Leviantan senator Miroku Loop Octopus hid the twins' birth and had the infants thrown into the river to prevent a potential scandal. Before she was thrown into the river, Eve, being an inheritor of Levia, was experimented on by Seth Twiright in order for the latter to develop the brainwashing drug Venom.
The infant Eve was eventually rescued and adopted by Raiou Zvezda, the chief of Nemu, and his wife, growing up in their village. As she came to understand that she didn't know her true parents, on one occasion when Eve was little she ran away from home and was attacked by a bear, only to be rescued by several spirits of the forest. From then on, Eve believed the forest spirits were protecting her.
Eve grew up to become a powerful witch of the Zvezda family, both able to hypnotize others with her Levia inheritor abilities and able to summon lightning of her own accord. In accordance with Nemu's laws, she had her powers sealed with a magical spoon belonging to her mother. As the forests where she lived became rife with danger from Apocalypse, Eve used her magic to protect its inhabitants while using her inheritor abilities to wipe their memories of her identity, leading to rumors spreading of the mysterious Witch of the Forest that uses a spoon to cast spells.
The Devastation of Nemu[]
While protecting others with her powerful magic, Eve publicly made her living selling fruits and mushrooms she'd gathered in the forest, particularly to the Mogura people excavating Second Period artifacts. When her father became bedridden due to injury, Eve took up his merchant work in his stead. Two years since then, Eve was selling her wares when she was alerted to Raisa Netsuma's army launching an attack. Leaping into action, she discovered the army was attacking three carriages, with one containing the scientists Adam Moonlit and an injured Seth Twiright. While the battle continued on, Eve took Adam and Seth to safety in her home village.
After bringing them back to her father so he could treat Seth's injuries, Eve learned that the two had come to the forest to meet with her, suspecting she was the Witch of the Forest and hoping to recruit her for Project 'Ma'. Despite her interest in the project, which offered a chance for her to become queen of Levianta, Eve denied being the Witch of the Forest out of respect to her father, her spoon hiding her true magical power when the two scientists tried to test her. Seth later left to receive further medical treatment, and Eve acted as a guide for Adam and his military escort Gammon Loop Octopus while they continued to search for the true Witch of the Forest.
One day, Eve and Adam began chatting as they headed back before they were interrupted by an attack from Raisa and her army. As Raisa attacked, Eve used her spoon to devastate her forces, revealing her true magical power in the proecess. Eve then hurried back to her home village with Adam, only to find it under attack from the other Apocalypse general Meta Salmhofer and her Red Devotees, who had brainwashed the village men, slaughtered the village women, and crucified Eve's father. After meeting Meta herself and discovering Raiou's murder, Eve and Adam were joined by reinforcements from Levianta's capital and Meta withdrew her troops. With everyone in her village either dead or brainwashed, the surviving Eve accompanied Adam back to the capital to become a candidate for Project 'Ma'.
Project 'Ma'[]
After following Adam back to the Royal Institute, Eve underwent a second test to gauge her magical ability and viability as a Project 'Ma' candidate. During this time, she learned more about the terrorist organization Apocalypse and how little the senate currently was doing to combat it, resolving to fix the corruption in the government after she became queen. Once it was determined Eve's magical power was more than high enough, she was next prepared for a ritual to get the current queen to accept her as her successor.
In the meantime, she also accepted Adam's help in buying several clothes and other wares, like a red wine glass, to help her get settled into the capital over the next several days. Eve also began receiving lessons from Adam on Leviantan history and politics and in return would train Adam with his magic. Before a month had passed Eve and Adam began officially dating, though the two kept their relationship a secret to avoid complications with the Project. When Adam promised the two would get married later, Eve suggested they wed in Held's Forest once it was safe there again.
A week later, Eve was called to the round hall in Alicegrad and met with senator Miroku to start the ritual. Upon arriving, she was shocked to discover that there was a second candidate, Zellana Chirclatia of the Lighwatch temple, about to undergo the ritual as well. After briefly becoming acquainted with Zellana, Eve entered the Levia-Behemo temple first to meet with the queen and undergo the ritual.
Moving through the temple's Hall of Glass, Eve spotted the figure of the queen but passed out shortly before reaching her. She then experienced three dreams in succession: The first was a vision of her and Adam as irregulars at the end of the world. The second was a vision of herself inside the Clockworker's Doll facing off against Elluka Clockworker, while the latter performed a body swap on her. The third was a vision of herself and Adam living in a cabin before two children arrive, with Eve becoming convinced that the twins were her future children with Adam.
Eve awoke to find that she'd succeeded in the trial and was selected to be the next queen of Levianta. She then found out that Zellana had entered after her and was killed by the ritual, a risk that Adam had neglected to inform Eve of. She was then brought back to the institute to be impregnated with the God seed. Although angered that Adam had omitted the danger of the ritual, Eve suppressed her concerns, fearing it would mean an end to their relationship.
After being successfully implanted with the God Seed and conceiving twins, Eve awaited giving birth to the incarnations of Levia-Behemo. Becoming restless from the pregnancy, she accompanied Adam out to the western coast by Held's Forest; while there, she announced to Adam that she was naming the twins Cain and Abel. Eight months since becoming impregnated, Eve was moved to Alicegrad as a security measure and was closely attended while her due date approached.
Eventually, Eve went into labor and was attended by Seth Twiright, as her primary doctor had drowned in a river not long before. Once she'd given birth, however, the babies were discovered to be stillborn. Later, it was determined that Eve had become infertile as well. Horrified and grieved, Eve became delusional and was insistent that her children were still alive. Later, she fled the Magic Kingdom Levianta with Adam and moved with him into Held's Forest.
Original Sin[]
After Eve fled to Elphegort with Adam, the two had a wedding in Held's Forest and made a small home in the forest, furnishing it with some of their belongings from Levianta. The two took up work as woodcutters, with Adam traveling to other villages in the forest to sell their goods. Still suffering mentally, at first Eve remained cooped up in the house, appearing senseless as well as emotionless. As time went on, however, her condition gradually appeared to improve as she began to venture out and and gather fruits and mushrooms like she used to in Nemu, though her delusional state would still resurface on occasion.
In EC 001, Eve came across a boy and a girl on the ground one night and perceived them as red fruits, picking them up to take home. While heading back, Eve found herself chased by the looming shadow of their mother; perceiving her to be a bear, Eve came to believe it was the bear that had attacked her in her childhood and ran through the woods in a bid to escape. Upon reaching her home, Eve found Meta closing in on her; as the latter grabbed her coat, Eve killed the "bear" with her magic spoon.
Eve then entered her home with the "fruits" still in hand and was greeted by Adam, only for him to notice the children in her arms. As Adam ascertained for himself what she had done, Eve acknowledged that the "fruits" in her arms were really infants, but then came to believe in her delusion that they were the twin children she'd borne with Adam. At peace, Eve contentedly rocked her children that night and appeared to give the "bear" no further thought.
Moonlit Abandonment[]
With the mother dead and children orphaned, Adam and Eve kept the twins and raised them as their own. Over the years, Gretel caused plenty of mischief for them, prompting Eve to often scold her. Following the Levianta Catastrophe of EC 013, the effects of the disaster spread to Elphegort, causing a famine. A few months later in EC 014, the two reluctantly agreed to abandon their foster children in the forest to starve to death so that they could survive the famine. With a gloomy expression, Eve and her husband led their foster children deep into the forest before abandoning them and returning home.
Devastated, Eve mourned their loss while Adam comforted her. Soon after, they heard a knock on the door and answered, horrified to see the manic expressions of their abandoned children at the entrance. While their children laughed, Eve was shoved into the house's oven by Gretel and burned alive.
Demon of Wrath[]
After her body's death, Eve Moonlit's soul joined Seth in the golden key, Grim the End. Seth, as the Demon of Wrath, allowed his former colleague wife to leech off his vessel and power. As time progressed, Seth also allowed Eve to act in his place making contracts. In EC 136, Countess Yufina Crim forged a contract with the demon through Eve to kill Duchess Gumina Venomania. They later watched as Yufina transformed the key into a knife and stabbed the duchess possessed by the Demon of Lust in the chest, killing her.clarith In EC 505, the Demon of Wrath possessed clarith through Eve. When the nun found Allen on the beach putting a message in a bottle out to sea, Eve read the woman's memories and impersonated her beloved Kyle. With kyle's voice, she began urging clarith to kill Allen, even lamenting about "his" painful death by a knife as clarith prepared to murder Allen the same way. Before clarith could follow through on Eve's orders, however Rinne Avadonia intervened and blocked clarith way. Soon after, clarith realized that Eve wasn't Kyle after all, and she gave up on taking revenge on Allen.
During the Duel of Merrigod Plateau on January 30, EC 611, Eve watched the battle between Irina Clockworker and Gumillia against Julia Abelard and Rin Abelard. Unable to contract with Gumillia, she could only watch the duel silently for the next two hours until Seth began complaining about the stalemate. When he asked Eve why she wasn't making a move on Gumillia, Eve reminded him that a host needed anger and hate for her to lend them power. She listened as Seth decided that it was then his turn to act as the Demon of Wrath, watching while Seth tried and failed to convince Gumillia to make a contract.
Eventually, however, Seth goaded Gumillia into a temporary contract and killed Rin with Grim the End, returning to Eve to relate the experience. Once Eve learned that the Demon of Gluttony had taken the dead Rin's soul into the Glass of Conchita, Eve made clear to Seth her unhappiness with the situation. She listened as Seth continued to muse about the consequences of the duel, before Gumillia spoke to him again and Seth revealed his human identity to her.
When Elluka activated her heart's Black Box Type S, Gumillia was caught in the blast and transported into Levia's inner psychological world, leaving Grim the End and Eve behind. Once the Demon of Gluttony opened a portal into the mental world and clashed his Worldeater with Levia and Elluka's magic, the blast blew Eve and Seth out of the golden key.
New Vessel[]
Following the outcome of the duel, Eve's spirit ended up inside the Marlon Spoon. During the EC 900s, the spoon fell into the possession of Mata Corpa before it was stolen by Ma. After Ma was tried, the spoon was put inside the Dark Star Bureau's evidence lockup, but Ma stole it again in EC 978. While the spoon was in her possession, Ma told Eve that the Clockworker's Doll contained her beloved Adam. Once she was brought to the mansion of Michelle Marlon, Eve forged a contract with the judge in order to facilitate communication between Michelle and Adam, with Michelle keeping the spoon on her at all times.
During the Leviantan Civil War, Eve manifested in Michelle's mansion while Michelle wondered why none of the militia had come inside the mansion, surprising the judge. After arguing about her true identity, she confirmed to Michelle that her contract with her allowed her to speak to "Gallerian" inside the doll. Then as Michelle lamented being unable to bring back Gallerian's body, Eve taunted her over her failures and inability to collect all the vessels; in the process, she revealed that Adam was the one inside the doll, and not Gallerian.
As Michelle refused the notion, Eve continued to taunt the judge's beliefs about "Gallerian" and the vessels of sin, as well as her own greed making up for Eve not being the real Demon of Greed. As Michelle continued to argue, Eve decided to bring the Doll to them so he could affirm for himself if he was Adam or Gallerian and summoned him to the room. The Doll, however, only expressed confusion at Eve's presence.
Soon after, he attacked Michelle's enemies outside the mansion with a unique fire magic; realizing the doll couldn't be Adam as he didn't possess such an ability, Eve angrily asked who he was and the Doll told her that he was Michelle's son. Realizing Ma had lied, Eve spitefully revealed to Michelle that Ma and Bruno Zero had hidden something from her as well, and refused to reveal what it was before returning to the forest.
Evil's Theater[]
Sometime after, Eve awakened as "Gear" and was assigned the task of watching over Evil's Theater and keeping Heartbeat Clocktower running or else the awakened Clockworker's Doll would die. Treating him coldly due to him not being Adam, Eve was later gifted a Black Box by the Doll, coming upon the realization that the soul inside the doll was her biological mother Maria. She then dutifully performed her task day by day, observing her fellow inhabitants the Master of the Graveyard and the Waiter going about their own work.
In EC 990, when the clocktower's inner mechanisms became too deteriorated to function, Gear realized the Director Doll would soon die. Desperate to fulfill her duty, she tore out her own heart and used it to connect herself to the tower, siphoning the powers of the Marlon Spoon to keep the clock tower operational. As a result, the doll was healed and drained the spoon of its power, leaving Gear as a shell of her vessel. After her sacrifice, Gear was unable to enter the main theater, confined to the clock tower she connected herself to.
When Gammon Octo submitted a "motion" to review the script regarding his vision for the Director Doll's utopia, Gear attended the faux hearing but largely ignored the prophecy. She later attended the "trial" meeting the Master of the Court held in EC 998 to search for the vessel of Wrath, becoming annoyed with the pointless search. Following the destruction of the world in EC 999, Eve's soul fused with one of the twins birthed by the Master of the Court, producing Eve.
Legacy[]
In the wake of her death, the other six vessels of sin created from Eve's Original Sin unleashed havoc on numerous occasions, corrupting their holders and causing catastrophes for nearly a millennium in the Evillious region. Eve herself became known as the "Original Sinner", and was regarded with disdain for her actions during her lifetime.
Throughout the centuries following Eve's first death, Elluka Clockworker continued to notice the resemblance many female relatives of the Marlon Royal Family shared with Eve, eventually considering investigating the family to uncover a connection between them. In EC 982, Eve and her husband's skeletal corpses were discovered while their long abandoned home was being demolished for the construction of Evil's Theater. Afterwards, a graveyard was constructed around the theater grounds.
Micheal Marlon was mistakenly referred to by the Demon of Gluttony as the era's "Soul of Eve". While reviewing the court "motions" in Evil's Theater, Gammon Octo queried if Eve's dying wish resided within the Marlon Spoon and manifested as Gear after the vessel awakened; although considering the effort touching, he didn't believe it would help with the world's destruction.
Personality and Traits[]
Eve was a capable and good-natured woman broken by her circumstances. Being the Witch of the Forest, Eve used her powers in defense of others as a heroic figure, not even hesitating to come to others' aid in times of danger. Later on, this developed into a desire to eradicate the evils of the world and fix the rampant corruption present in her home country. Despite her devastatingly powerful magical abilities, she was humble and worked in a more modest occupation while keeping her true nature secret; this humble background in a remote village led to her naivety when taken out of her home environment. Due to her being attacked by a bear in childhood, Eve also had a fear of them which she carried into her adult life, coupled with a respect of the forest spirits who saved her. She similarly came to deeply respect Held for his believed role in the agriculture of Elphegort despite being taught he was an "evil" god.
Following the murder of her community and her own father, Eve was left devastated and thrust out of everything she'd found familiar. Because of this, she quickly became enamored of and emotionally dependent on Adam, even to the point of ignoring her better judgement about his intentions if it meant maintaining their relationship. With her similarly devastating miscarriage and failure to complete the project, Eve's feelings for Adam and reliance on him only worsened. Alongside this, to protect herself she developed a delusional state from which she never fully recovered, recurrently in denial that her children had died at all, and insisting they were missing. This difficulty facing reality was the source of her kidnapping Hänsel and Gretel, perceiving them first as fruits and then as her own children.
While in the Vessel of Wrath, Eve began to develop a rather manipulative personality that worsened over the years. Dedicating herself to the duties of the Demon of Wrath on Seth's behalf, Eve would use the anger and hate of others to kill the objects of their vengeance and was even willing to go so far as to impersonate or allow impersonation of a loved one to make them act as she desired. She carried these manipulations out without visible remorse, at least in one instance taking pleasure in mocking Michelle who had made a contract with her under mistaken assumptions.
As Gear, Eve acted stoic, calm, and observant, strongly contrasting with her own previous personality. she also had a strong sense of duty, willing to make tremendous sacrifices for the sake of her mission. Because of this, she shared a certain devotion to the awakened Clockworker's Doll; although initially resentful of him when she realized he wasn't Adam, her loyalty to him was reignited when she realized the doll was the mother that she never gotten to knew. Although normally reserved, she could be annoyed when provoked.
Skills and Abilities[]
Eve was exceptionally skilled in magic and was arguably the best witch in the Magic Kingdom Levianta at the time, enough for her abilities to be considered on par with those of the Demons of Sin. Among her abilities were possessing the powerful Swap Technique, wielding lightning magic, and having a powerful hypnosis resulting from her being an inheritor of Levia. However, she kept the latter two sealed using the Marlon Spoon during her time in Nemu.
After joining Seth in Grim the End, Eve was unable to use any of her magic except for a few. She was able to borrow Seth's power in a way compared to a parasite, thus able to wield the powers of Grim the End, including possession, contracting with hosts, and communicating through telepathy; unlike Seth, however, she was unable to contract with a host if said host possessed no actual sense of wrath. Aside from this, Eve was capable of impersonating an individual, appearing before her host in the being's guise. She could also summon the vessels of sin to herself, countering the repel between them. She was presented with the same weaknesses as the demon, able to be sealed inside Grim the End.
Even after leaving Grim the End, Eve still retained the ability to make contracts, lending her potential host her power of telepathy though she still unable to use most of her magic. Additionally, as Gear, Eve wielded all the powers of the Marlon Spoon. After transferring her magical power to the clocktower and the Master of the Court, she was assumed to be largely powerless Due Adam lesson, Eve manage to translate to mechanical skill, able to monitor and keep the clocktower running for years.

Despite this, she did not agree with him ultimate goal to unite the vessels of sin and was annoyed by the "trial" he held.
Trivia[]
- I think I need to clear some things up! while the clockwork doll is a male, the soul inside the doll is a female. so while the doll use a male pronounce, the soul inside it is a female and still have the womb. (quite frankly, I don't even know how that happend in canon. so......)
