From a comment on The Weathered Head at Onigashima:
"The depiction of Kayo's severed head being on public display is similar to Akame Ga Kill! character Chelsea (at least in the anime, idk if it follows the manga exactly, though it appears to differ largely from the manga). In the anime, Chelsea was ambushed by Kurome's "puppets" Natala and Doya (under her control via her imperial arms Yatsufsa, which allows its user to control those killed by the sword), her right arm and the fingers of her left hand were cut off by Natara to prevent her from using her imperial arms (which allowed her to disguise herself, even in a second's notice, and change her physical appearance to pretty much any living creature or person), and was shot in the back by Doya. As she laid in a bed of flowers, she lamented that she would be the one who received retribution, shortly before Natala severed her head and later stacked it on a pole in the center of a nearby town.
Only difference is Chelsea didn't kill in a jealous rage from assuming her husband was cheating on her. She killed to eliminate the bad people of The Empire, while Kayo, under the possession of the demon of envy, killed to eliminate the woman and two young girls her "husband" was "cheating" on her with. Both essentially met the same fate, death via beheading, and their heads being put on public display, Kayo for to serve as a reminder of her crimes, and Chelsea to serve as a reminder that she was a member of Night Raid and the Revolutionary Army, a group and army who opposed The Empire and its tyranny, and aimed to take down the corrupt empire"
