"Yes, the head on display at Onigashima."
―Gakusha[src]

The Weathered Head at Onigashima is a song released by mothy on February 25, 2015 in the Seven Crimes and Punishments album. It follows the monk Gakusha as he learns about the terrible history behind the severed head of Kayo Sudou.

Plot

In the center of Onigashima, Jakoku, where Enbizaka is located, a severed head hangs from an execution site. A monk traveling through the region wonders what kind of crime the head committed and asks the people; he learns that the owner of a clothing store and his family were murdered by the head. Questioning why the lovely woman of the tale killed those people, the monk notes that the head of Onigashima doesn't say a word.

The next day, the monk visits the site to perform the memorial service and sees a boy; questioning who he is, the monk learns that the child was the one who cut off the head at the site. He remarks that the woman was both sinful and pitiful before he joins hands with the monk and chants the rites. Noting that the woman was once a skillful tailor, the severed head in Enbizaka doesn't carry her scissors skillfully anymore. It's also noted that no matter how pretty the kimono, the severed head ultimately can't wear it without a torso.

Lyrics

Aa enbizaka sarashi kubi

If only I hadn't forgotten

At Enbizaka in the center of Onigashima,
At the execution site atop the hill, is a head on display
Her long, bloodstained hair blowing in the wind,
Smoothly, smoothly flowing side-to-side

What kind of crime did this head commit?
The monk who didn't know asked someone
It was said the owner of a clothing shop and his family
Were stabbed with scissors by that woman

The beautiful woman of this ballad,
Why did she murder those people?
This weathered woman doesn't say anything

Yes, the head on display at Onigashima

Memorials for criminals are also the monk's duty
He again visited the top of Enbizaka the next day
The prior visitor before the head is a lone child
What kind of person is he?

The child answered the monk's question
He cut off her head himself
She was a sinful woman but pitiful
They joined their hands together and recited the rites

She was a skilled tailor
It's said she weaved elegant kimono

Even so, she lacks the arms to hold scissors anymore
Yes, the head on display at Enbizaka

No matter how beautiful the kimono,
She can't wear them without a body

This weathered woman doesn't say anything
Yes, the head on display at Onigashima
Yes, the head on display at Enbizaka
