Reach for the Stars ~The Letter She Kept Waiting For~ is a song released by Akuno-P on August 12, 2019 in the album Evils Extra. It is the thirteenth and final song of The Daughter of Evil Series, showing the final years of Riliane Lucifen d'Autriche, and the efforts of the orphans she raised to fulfill her dying wish.

Plot[]

In Lucifenia, an orphan boy relates how he was raised by a kind nun in an orphanage. With the nun sick and on her deathbed, he and the other orphans ask her if she has any wishes, wanting to fulfill them out of gratitude to her. She tells them she's waiting for a reply to a letter she sent when she was young, although soon after brushes it off without telling them who the letter's recipient is.

Puzzled, the orphans split up and search all over the country for someone familiar with the nun's past, eventually finding an old painter. The painter explains how the nun had committed numerous atrocities, and that the letter's recipient is already dead. The orphan boy notes that, regardless, the nun is waiting for a response to her letter.

As the nun's death draws near, the boy gives her a fake response to her letter. Satisfied, the nun thanks him and dies. The boy remarks that they'd only realized her sins after everything was already over.

She laughs, it’s a wish that can’t be granted

Conceptualization and Origin[]

  • Although originally scrapped by mothy as a dead plot point,[1] the song was re-released as part of Evils Extra, with new vocals, lyrics and instruments.
  • The orphan's comments at the time of the nun's death are reminiscent of The Daughter of Evil and The Servant of Evil; similarly his words regarding realizing her sins when it was already over paraphrase Riliane's line in Regret Message.
