- Are you looking for the vessel known as the Demonic Twin Blades?
The Demonic Twin Blades is a short story released along with the online purchase of The Daughter of Evil: Clôture of Yellow on November 2, 2017. The story was written by Akuno-P. It portrays the efforts of the blacksmith Smith Langley to destroy the Twin Blades of Levianta upon the request of Mikhail Asayev.
Plot Summary
In EC 501, after the end of the Lucifenian Revolution, Smith Langley is working at the Langley smithy. Among the people also working at the smithy is Nagisa Coulomb, having gotten pregnant through an affair with a traveling mercenary. Thinking of Leonhart, Smith is approached by the priest Mikhail Asayev, and is given a special request: to destroy the Twin Blades of Levianta with the Levin Archbishop's permission. As Mikhail explains the history of the vessels of sin and their indestructibility, Smith enthusiastically accepts the request, having learned from Mikhail that no blacksmith in Levianta could accomplish the task.
Mikhail then explains he will be staying with the Lucifenian clergy for the next week, and that Smith could either destroy the blades within the deadline and receive a large sum of money, or give back the blades if he changed his mind. Attempting several times to destroy the twin blades using various methods, only for them to mend themselves, Smith finds himself inside the blades' world, meeting the Demon of Envy inside. The demon, Rahab, tells him she doesn't want to be taken advantage of by the magician collecting the vessels, and that only the "inheritor", Mikhail, could deceive her. Rahab further explains that she doesn't have many escape routes, Nagisa's child being one of them. Warned by Smith not to hurt Nagisa, Rahab implores Smith to return the blades.
Visiting the Lucifenian chapel and returning the blades to Mikhail, Smith is paid by him. Deciding to ask him what being an "inheritor" meant, and Smith listens as Mikhail explains that some Leviantans inherited powers from the gods, such as prophetic dreams and fire magic, he himself having inherited an artificial eye from the god Behemo. Seeing Rahab's shadow behind Mikhail, Smith decides to pray at the chapel, praying for a peaceful life for Chartette, Nagisa and her child, and himself.[1]
