Rockbane

Rukolbeni[1] was the original capital of the Beelzenian Empire prior to being moved to the Imperial City to its east. The original site of the Imperial Palace and the Beelzenian Royal Family, the city declined in later years. Developing a thriving wine business and multiple liquor stores, Blood Grave became among its chief products.

History

Early History

At some point, Rukolbeni was established as the capital of the Beelzenian Empire. With the death of Duke Gastolle during the nation's civil war with Asmodean, the western half of the duke's Re Tasan was incorporated into the royal family's jurisdiction, making Rukolbeni the center of the newly created Beelzenias region. Following the disappearance of Duke Banica Conchita, the Beelzenias region was merged with the Conchita territory, incorporating Gasto as an extension of the city.[2]

Decline

Over the centuries Gasto fell into ruin, though Rukolbeni achieved minor fame for its land's connection to Duke Banica, developed a growing wine business with the sale of Banica's favored Blood Grave.[3] At some point before the sixth century EC, the capital was moved from Rukolbeni to the new Imperial City,[4] with the city closely bordering the Kingdom of Lucifenia.

In EC 505, the writer Yukina Freezis stayed in the city and visited the Conchita mansion before moving on to the Langley Troops Garrison.[5] Following the annulment of the armistice between Marlon and Beelzenia, Rukolbeni was the first town to be attacked by the invading dead soldiers;[6] the town was devastated for several days until the soldiers were fought off by the Langley Troops division.[7]

World's End

In EC 998, Rukolbeni was completely decimated by Punishment. Following the end of the Third Period, the destruction site merged with the Hellish Yard along with the rest of the ground world.[8]

Trivia

Conceptualization and Origin

  • Rukolbeni's Japanese name, when reversed, may refer to the alleged child of Nicole Aubrey, a young woman who claimed to be possessed by and allegedly conceived her child with Beelzebub, the patron demon of Gluttony.
  • Fittingly, the name of Beelzenia, where Rukolbeni is located, is derived from Beelzebub.
