Pale Noël, also known as The Master of Malice, was one of the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse. Created by Seth Twiright, the ghoul child became a rampant serial killer and the leader of the criminal organization. At different points the lover of Meta Salmhofer and Milky Eights, Pale led numerous insurrections across the Magic Kingdom Levianta.

History

Early Life

Pale was created around the BT 020s by Seth Twiright, as one of a pair of clones created by him. With his "brother" deemed a failure for being an empty shell and frozen for storage, Pale was Seth's first successful ghoul child. After his creation, Pale became the head of the organization Apocalypse, based on Merrigod Plateau. Under his leadership it became a feared terrorist organization dedicated to destroying world order, and Pale soon acquired infamy as he orchestrated multiple bloody riots across the Magic Kingdom Levianta. He eventually became known as "The Master of Malice" for his carnage.

During his reign in Apocalypse, Pale came across and rescued a fellow ghoul child, Meta Salmhofer, who had become enslaved by a farmer after her escape from Seth. After encouraging her to take revenge, Pale brought her into Apocalypse and she soon became one of his highest officers; the two also became a romantic couple. In the meantime, Pale's ghoul child body had begun to deteriorate after he became an adult. In order to maintain his youthfulness, Pale regularly engaged in relations with other women to absorb their magical power, with Meta's knowledge. Later on, under Seth's orders, Pale also retreated from the public eye so as to not draw too much attention to his creator by their identical appearances.

Project 'Ma'

Over time, Pale began to grow rebellious towards Seth Twiright, desiring to kill him outright. When Project 'Ma' began, Seth and multiple research institute scientists launched an expedition to Merrigod Plateau to capture Meta as a potential candidate. As a result, Meta tried to kill Seth in addition to repelling the Magic Kindom's forces, allegedly on Pale's orders. Although Seth survived, Apocalypse succeeded in killing nearly all of the other scientists of the Royal Institute. Pale also integrated the head of the Netsuma Clan, Raisa Netsuma, into Apocalypse as one of his officers.

Following the coup orchestrated by Gammon Loop Octopus in the Leviantan government, Apocalypse began to face harsh setbacks as the new senate began cracking down on the organization. As a result, their base in the north soon fell to the Royal Capital Army. One morning around BT 001, Pale met with Meta after having a tryst with the prostitute, Milky Eights, and discussed the current situation and the possibility that there was a traitor in the ranks.

Having not heard from Seth for quite some time, Pale decided to lead an attack north in Levianta, while instructing Meta to go west and enlist the aid of Yegor Asayev, another Apocalypse member. Sometime after, however, Pale came under Seth's power and Meta was captured by Yegor in cooperation with the Leviantan senate. While Meta was recruited into Project 'Ma' following her capture, in the meantime Seth moved Pale's soul into the failed ghoul child he'd created long ago to prevent Pale's death from his deteriorating old body. Now in the body of a child as a result, Pale lived with Seth under the cover story that he was the latter's nephew.

After his death, Pale was alleged to have been buried in a massive tomb constructed at the north tip of Merrigod Plateau; the area later became known as "Apocalypse Cliff" in honor of his leadership in the organization. As the years passed, Pale gained a cult following after death and became worshiped for his villainy by some fanatics.

Centuries after his lifetime, Pale and his organization were recorded in history for the terror they spread across the Magic Kingdom, earning infamy in the Levin Church. In his writings, the historian Will Jaakko recorded Pale as a magic user and the oldest known HER. Several criminal organizations were founded in honor of Pale and his criminal actions years later, namely Neo Apocalypse and Père Noël.

Personality and Traits

Pale was a destructive and bloodthirsty man, earning him the moniker as "The Master of Malice". As a HER, he felt the compulsive desire to spread malice across the world. Being the leader of Apocalypse, Pale had no qualms with killing and caused countless bloodshed. Although he established several relationships with other women, none of them lasted very long, leading Meta to believe that Pale never truly loved her but was only using her for his own personal gain. Following Meta's capture, he abandoned her.

Skills and Abilities

As the leader of Apocalypse, Pale was a capable planner and coordinator. His skill at manipulation extended to his personal life, taking advantage of Meta's feelings for him so she would join the organization. Being a clone of Seth Twiright, Pale shared Seth's impressive intellect; at the same time, he shared the scientist's poor eyesight and needed to wear glasses.

Character Connections

Meta Salmhofer: One of Pale's lovers and a member of Apocalypse. Despite regularly sleeping with other women in order to sustain his youth, Pale appeared to genuinely love Meta and trusted her capabilities in Apocalypse, the two committing a myriad of crimes together. This affection for her, although not extending to the children she bore in Project 'Ma', led him to sacrifice himself for the sake of her escape.

Milky Eights: One of Pale's lovers. Pale carried on a relationship with Milky as part of necessity, using her life force in order to maintain his youthfulness. Despite allegedly siring a child with her later on, he did not demonstrate any serious feelings for Milky in contrast to Meta.

Seth Twiright: Pale's creator. Pale inherited several traits from Seth, particularly the latter's malice, and referred to him as his "brother" as per Seth's cover story that they were twins. Although cooperative with his creator when the situation necessitated it, Pale harbored an antagonistic desire to kill and supplant Seth as the "original" of the two of them.

Trivia

Conceptualization and Origin

• Pale's name is derived from the pale horse of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, representing Death.
• His surname, Noël, is French for "Christmas"; the name of the criminal organization Père Noël is derived from Pale's name and means "Father Christmas" or Santa Claus in French.
• The Ma Survival PV notes Pale having fathered a child with Milky in EC 013; it is unclear if this date is still accurate, as Original Sin Story: Crime shows Pale being reset into Kiril in EC 001.
