Pere Noel

Père Noël was a criminal organization formed by Julia Abelard, in the Lucifenian Republic sometime during the turn of 7th century EC. The group was responsible for multiple cases of serial murders and assassinations. Its reach had stretched as far as the Elphegort nobility.

History

Foundation

At some point, Julia Abelard founded the organization and recruited her first disciple Mayrana, who chose the codename IV. the Shadow.[1] Giving herself the codename I. the Santa Claus, Julia led the organization and adopted Lemy Abelard, raising him to be fanatically loyal to her and codenaming him V. the Pierrot.[2] She also at some point recruited Gatt Colomb, assigning him the codename of VI. the Venom.[3] In EC 597, Shadow enacted the Lioness Burning Incident and framed Elluka Clockworker for the event.[4]

At some point, Santa had Shadow assume a false identity as another Julia Abelard and become the mayor of Calgaround, assigning Venom as her partner to go undercover as the town librarian.[5] Leading the organization, I. the Santa made Père Noël well known while maintaining the secrecy of its members; eventually, she began secretly dealing with Bruno Marlon, Shaw Freesis' aide in the Freesis Foundation.[6]

As part of their dealings, the organization established a black market in Toragay to distribute illegal merchandise, such as original manuscripts of Yukina Freesis' works and sap from the New Millennium Tree.[7] Soon after, the destitute Marquis Caspar Blankenheim was made head of the black market as II. the Dealer. At a later date, the Shadow approached and befriended his wife Margarita Blankenheim, making her III. the Sleep Princess.[8] At some point, Père Noël orchestrated an attack on Banner, the deputy mayor of Aceid.[9]

Toragay Serial Killings

In EC 609, knowing that sap from the New Millennium Tree had powerful detoxifying qualities, Pere Noel concocted a plan to devise an airborne version of the poison Gift and fake a deadly plague in Evillious, with the sap turned into a cure to be sold on the black market by the Dealer.[10] Around this time, Mayrana discovered that their Dealer, Caspar, had been appropriating funds from the black market for his own use rather than for Pere Noel.

To set their plan in motion, Shadow gave III. the Sleep Princess instructions to create the gift epidemic, the girl experimenting with the drug and creating a potent poison. Also experimenting with the drug, Shadow used a failed version of Gift as a clue to draw in Elluka Clockworker to investigate as Hanne Lorre. Refining the Gift, the Sleep Princess unexpectedly killed II. the Dealer and later her own father using the poison.

On October 6, V. the Pierrot kidnapped the idol Rin Chan after killing her manager, and the girl was confined in the Calgaround Mansion.[11] At some point, Shadow met with Bruno Marlon and promised him the position of II. the Dealer if he disposed of Hanne and Heidemarie Lorre.[12] During this time, Margarita continued to refine her Gift and eventually released the airborne contaminant without a cure, committing genocide on her entire town, and plunging Elphegort into panic.

After killing all the town's citizens, the black market was moved to Calgaround and the Sleep Princess made her way into the other city; meeting with Mayrana, she began to work on a new variant of the Gift while the Shadow was confronted and killed by Elluka and Gumillia. Shortly afterwards, Margarita took her own Gift, committing suicide.[13] The Freesis Foundation began investigating the murders and any connection Margarita had with Père Noël.[14]

Compromised

Soon after, the organization recruited two new members, VII. the Magician and VIII. the Sniper, with Sniper tasked with assassination missions throughout the year.[15] In EC 610, V. the Pierrot began killing prostitutes in Rolled in the dead of night.[16] In the winter of that year, Pierrot told Santa that VII. the Magician was a traitor and, the next day, she had gone missing.[17] Soon after, during one of V. the Pierrot's killing sprees, he was betrayed and shot by Sniper.[18] I. the Santa then sent the former member, Elluka Clockworker, a message telling her she would be waiting at Merrigod Plateau.[19] Elluka confronted Santa at the location and battled her, resulting in Julia's defeat.[20]

Aftermath

Following the battle, it is assumed the organization disbanded after the event. With Julia dead, Elluka continued on her search for the Seven Deadly Sins, ending up on the eastern island area of Enbizaka.[21] It is unknown if the sorceress managed to collect the Clockworker's Doll following the organization's apparent dissolution.

Curiosities

  • VI. the Venom is referred as being used for "chores",[22] referencing Gammon Octo's outcome after becoming the "choreman" of Evil's Theater.
