Original Sin Story: Punishment is the second Original Sin Story light novel, released on the Summer Comiket 100, on August 13, 2022. The novel is written by Akuno-P and illustrated by Ichika. It covers the events of Recollective Musicbox, Ma Survival, Whereabouts of the Miracle, The Song I Heard Somewhere, Tale of Abandonment on a Moonlit Night and Chrono Story.

Plot Summary[]

The story begins with Nyoze Loop Octopus, younger brother of Gammon Loop Octopus, heading to Levianta after the prophetized Catastrophe occured to search for survivors as well as to learn what has caused it to occure earlier (the Gear of Twilight that would sign its beginning hadn't arrived yet). Upon arriving in the destroyed city of Lightwatch, Nyoze meets an old lady who, recognising him as a senator, leads the man to the Lightwatch temple, where the survivors of the Catastrophe have gathered. Among them Nyoze notices an old man tampering with a music box. The lady who brought him there tells him that the man is a former clockmaker who lost his mind as he keeps wasting his time on music boxes that don't play any music, surprising Nyoze as he can actually hear music coming from that music box. As soon as he points it out, the old man walks up to Nyoze and gives him another music box, telling him to play it in the castle in Alicegrad. Nyoze thus travels to the city and plays it over the remains of what the castle and the LeviaBehemo temple had hosted, the ark 'Sin'. As soon as he does he finds himself in a strange place where a woman who introduces herself as Madam Merry-go-round welcomes him as a 'Castaway of time'. When he asks about the Catastrophe she disappears and his older brother Gammon appears in her place. Gammon explains to Nyoze that to get out of there he must watch the memories of several people revolving around the failed seventh Project Ma, which had had four candidates competing for the position of queen: the daughter of a senator Ly Li, the prostitute and former member of Apocalypse Milky Eights, the former Lightwatch shrine maiden Elluka Chirclatia and her future sister-in-law Irina Clockworker. Thanks to the music box received from the old man and various gears containing memories summoned by Gammon, Nyoze will be able to learn the cause of the Catastrophe as well as to get out of the dimension he got trapped into.

He begins by watching Ly Li's memories of how the Project began and all four candidates met with him in the palace and were instructed to remain in there while some more tests were run to determine which girl was the fittest mother for the twins of god. Being the daughter of a senator, Ly sees herself as better than the other girl's who she thinks lack the skills to rule the country. However after all their magical abilities are tested and she bribes a priest to see the results, she has to admit to herself that it's actually her who's inferior to the other candidates in terms of magical power, which will most likely make her the first girl to be kicked out of the project. She remembers how her life has always been different from those of her parents and siblings just because she had a lower magical potential and how her father faked her 'queen trial' in hopes of making her the queen as to increase his own power. Thinking of how Gammon Loop Octopus has managed to reform the country despite having no magical potential at the cost of the life of his own father, she decides to take inspiration from him and create a new Levianta where magical potential isn't all...at the cost of the other candidates' lives. In the final scenes of her memories she's seen inviting Milky Eights to meet her on top of a cliff at night and later falling to her death from that same cliff. The face of her killer is not shown.

Nyoze complains to Gammon about such a key detail being missing, but his brother explains that it is due to Ly herself not knowing the identity of her killer. Afterwards the brothers theorize Milky met with Ly and, when the latter attempted to kill her, turned the tables on her before Gammon shows Nyoze a second gear, this time with Milky's memory. It turns out that she didn't meet with Ly has she had been able to notice her murderous intent. She complains about not being allowed to enter the LeviaBehemo temple, where the head scientist of the Project Seth Twiright is currently staying. The girl thinks back of her past in Apocalypse and how she'd come to love Pale Noël. The true reason why she had agreed to take part in the project was because she minstakenly believed Seth to be Pale himself. She talks about these things with Yegor Asayev and tells the head priest about the vision she had during her 'queen trial': a woman who looked like her married to a merchant who looked like Pale facing her child on a beach. Yegor suggests that she forgets Pale as he's not in her visions but she only gets more determined to sneak into the temple at night to see her love. Her plan is successful and she managed to get in a yard where she meets a white cat. Afterwards she is hanged by a misterious person and dies thinking of Pale and how she'd wanted to introduce him to the child she'd had with him. It is again not shown who hanged her.
