Ly Li was an aristocrat of the Magic Kingdom Levianta and a member of the influential Li Family. Due to her family's support, Ly was selected as a potential candidate for Project 'Ma' and became part of a dangerous survival game with the other candidates for the chance at being the next Ma.

History

Early Life

Ly was born the second daughter of Irta Li and grew up alongside her siblings as a member of the wealthy senate clan Li Family in Asmouse. Having an interest in swordplay, she inherited the family's heirloom, a pair of short swords.

Fraudulent Project

Ly face-to-face with Irina

During the seventh iteration of Project 'Ma', Ly's father Irta had her pretend to pass the Queen Trial. Combined with her family heavily funding the Project, Ly was accepted as a potential candidate. She later met with the Project head, Nyoze Loop Octopus, in the Alicegrad castle's reception hall. As the other candidates, Milky Eights, Irina Clockworker, and Elluka Chirclatia arrived, Ly expressed her dissatisfaction to Nyoze at having to compete with the other three due to their lower status.

Ly then started living in the castle as per Nyoze's orders, spending her time researching the castle's texts about the Magic Kingdom. Later on, Ly gathered with the other three candidates and had her magic ability measured by the Egg device, informed that the results wouldn't be disclosed. Wanting to know, Ly bribed the priest in charge of the test to obtain the results, shocked to learn that she scored the lowest. Returning to her room, she reflected on her insecurities before deciding to kill Milky, inviting her to a nearby cliff on the pretense of discussing something. Soon after pushed off a cliff by Irina, Ly fell to her death.

Legacy

Following her death, it was determined that Ly accidentally tripped and fell off a cliff. After murdering the rest of the potential candidates, Irina Clockworker's crimes were discovered and she was selected to become the new Ma by default. Her twin blades eventually ended up in the custody of the Moonlit Family. A year after Ly's demise, the swords were used by Hänsel and Gretel to create a vessel of sin for the Demon of Envy.

Ly indulging her appetite

Ly was an ambitious and prideful woman. Raised with an aristocratic background, Ly made sure to conduct herself with dignity, although this made her somewhat entitled. Her wealth also caused her to look down on others of lesser status, such as the prostitute Milky. Aside from this, she readily indulged in the lavish lifestyle her aristocracy afforded her.

Due to her having weak magical ability, Ly was insecure and strived to prove herself, even following her father's plans to that end. She was of the belief that the Magic Kingdom was being run poorly, and planned to enact laws to fix the country once she became queen, including changing the system that heavily favored those born with magical talent. Compounding this was a somewhat self-righteous sense of justice, though Ly was not above using deception, bribery, and attempting murder to get ahead. Ly was also notably interested in swordplay to make up for her lack of magical talent, and passed her time by reading books on Levianta's laws.

Skills and Abilities

Ly was proficient at swordplay, having developed her skills through training. Her weakness was her low magical ability, not even qualifying for the 170 minimum M rating.

Character Connections

Irta Li: Ly's father. She had a tense relationship with him, ordinarily opposing his will, though she was willing to work with him to become Queen.

Nyoze Loop Octopus: The head of the Project where Ly participated in. Ly was familiar with Nyoze growing due to their families both being senate clans.

Gammon Loop Octopus: The head of the Senate during Ly's time. Ly deeply admired him for overcoming his lack of magical ability and attaining his high position in Leviantan society.

• Ly's full name, "Ly Li", when reversed, spells "Lily", the name of her representative Vocaloid.

• When surveyed for Project 'Ma', Ly's rankings were M=150, O=99, T=101, H=89, E=123, R=107.
• During the second verse of the Ma Survival PV, Ly's portion is juxtaposed with the terms for Gluttony and Vainglory in the Eight Evil Thoughts, which later evolved into the Seven Deadly Sins.
