Levianta

Levianta (レヴィアンタ), once regarded as the great Magic Kingdom Levianta, is a state in the Bolganio continent's Evillious region. Centuries after its destruction, it was rebuilt as the nation of Divine Levianta and became the spiritual headquarters for the Levin religion. Centuries later, it became part of the Union State of Evillious.

History

Early History

Several years before EC 0, the ruler of the Magic Kingdom Levianta, Maria Moonlit, predicted that the "The Dark Legacy "Sin"" would lead to the country's destruction and that only the twin gods could purify the sin if they were reincarnated as humans. In reaction to this, the Leviantan Senate created Project 'Ma' to artificially produce the twin gods' human incarnations, directed by Adam Moonlit.

Hoping to become the nation's next ruler, many rushed to the Royal Institution to be admitted to the project. However, a powerful witch was required to pass and those that were tested failed. Finally, Adam's lover, Eve Zvezda, passed the test admirably and was selected as a candidate for treatment, conceiving twins. However, they were stillborn and Adam and Eve fled. Seth Twiright took over the project and selected Meta Salmhofer to replace the fugitive Eve, admitting her to the project. She conceived the twins, Hänsel and Gretel, and later successfully gave birth to them. Their birth marked the first year of Evillious and sparked celebration in the Magic Kingdom. Meta, however, fled with the twins and escaped, leaving both projects as failures.

For twelve years, there had been no successful births. Then, in EC 012, the Senate selected four potentials candidates for the project, including Irina Clockworker and Elluka Chirkrassia.[1] Ultimately, Elluka was selected and became the new Ma (Mem Aleph). In EC 013, Elluka directed the Department of National Research but her laboratory's techniques generated legal problems.[2] Eventually, this led to a huge explosion dubbed the "Great Levianta Fire Disaster" which brought about the downfall of the kingdom and heavily affected its neighboring countries.[3]

Divine Levianta

Destroyed and in ruins, the great kingdom ceased to exist and would not be resettled and rebuilt until until EC 301 with a national construction aimed at rebuilding the once great kingdom.[4] Called "Divine Levianta", the new nation became the center of the Levin religion and acted as the faith's headquarters. At some point, the nation made an alliance with neighboring Kingdom of Elphegort.

During The Green Hunting in EC 500, Levianta answered their ally's call for aid. However, their army was decimated by the Kingdom of Lucifenia's forces and retreated and their government backed down from sending reinforcements to Elphegort, claiming their army was only for their own self defense.[5] Levianta was later incorporated into the Union State of Evillious in EC 878.[6] A revolt broke out in EC 983 due to the exoneration of General Tony Ausdin by Judge Gallerian Marlon and led to their deaths; the event would be known as the Levianta Civil War.[7]

Government and Politics

Power Structure

The great Magic Kingdom was a constitutional monarchy, with the ruler of the government restrained by that of the senate. With the senate's concensus, the ruler could be removed from power and replaced, with the senators managing the nation's affairs and casting judgement until a new ruler was appointed to take their place.[8] The senate was also capable of sanctioning research projects when needed, with many researchers involved in the study of magic and medicine.[9]

Military

The magic kingdom had a capable military, able to find and capture a powerful witch Meta Salmhofer. Their actions were overseen by that of the senate and carried out to their wishes.[10] Following the Magic Kingdom's destruction, the military was abolished and later reestablished with creation of Divine Levianta centuries later. However, the new Leviantan military was weak and corrupt, incapable of defeating the aggressive soldiers of the Kingdom of Lucifenia and only large enough to defend their own territories[11] and susceptible to bribery.[12]

Society and Culture

The Magic Kingdom was built upon its great magical and technological prowess, remembered for its legendary abdundance of magical talent.[13] Because of this, magic held a great importance in their society and only those with the strongest magical capabilities were considered eligible for the nation's projects or to be chosen as the kingdom's ruler.[14] This magical elitism extended so far as to tear apart families and close friends over proving who was stronger. In the wake of the Magic Kingdom's destruction, much of their ruins remained, stretching as far as Asmodean.[15]

Racially, Leviantans are a diverse people, with many different characteristics found among them. After the kingdom's destruction, several Leviantans survived although it is unknown whether or not they died out in the following centuries. After the destroyed country was rebuilt as Divine Levianta, the nation repopulated.

The precepts and ideas of Levin were deeply rooted in Levianta culture, with the gods Levia and Behemo considered the absolute twin deities to be worshipped. This religious zeal led to the intense persecution of followers of Eldoh in Eldohgort. The importance of religion continued with the creation of Divine Levianta, becoming the religious capital of Levin.[16]

Geography and Climate

Levianta is a northern region of Evillious, located directly above Lucifenia and Asmodean. Originally, the Magic Kingdom consisted of flora and fauna but, following the Fire Disaster, is assumed to have become barren and mostly inhospitable. The climate was also much cooler and would snow during especially cold weather.[17]
