"My miscalculation was not having read Abyss' true intentions. From the outset, she didn't care to cooperate with me and only used me for her own ambitions."
―Prim Marlon[src]

Irina Clockworker, also known as I.R., AB-CIR, Abyss I.R., Julia Abelard, and First Santa Claus, was a powerful sorceress from the Magic Kingdom Levianta. After being mortally injured in the Levianta Catastrophe, the mage inhabited the body of a stuffed red cat and began collecting the vessels of sin. Over the centuries, she orchestrated numerous incidents for her own designs while avoiding her fellow mage, Elluka.

History

Early Life

"Sinful girl who has killed three people, you have been chosen to become the new Ma."
―The words told to Irina after killing Elluka[src]

Irina OSS2

Irina was born on BT 004 as the twelfth Ghoul Child created by Seth Twiright and was placed in Levianta as the younger sister of Kiril Clockworker, living in Lighwatch as an apprentice craftsman.[1] Later on, Irina became friends with Kiril's fiancée, Elluka Chirclatia, but grew jealous of her brother's lover.[2]

In EC 013, both Elluka and Irina were selected as potential candidates for Project 'Ma' after being surveyed for their viability.[3] As the time for the final selection drew closer, Irina began plotting to eliminate the other candidates. She then killed Ly Li, framing it as an accident, and Milky Eights, framing it as a suicide.

Irina later approached Elluka and asked that they stop fighting for the position, telling her sister-in-law that she, as well as Kiril, supported her becoming the new Ma. Once Elluka expressed her gratitude to Irina and promised to protect her, Irina stabbed the sorceress in the back and cried while Elluka collapsed before her. Admitted for being the only surviving candidate, Irina devilishly smiled before the altar in the Levia-Behemo Temple as she was accepted to be the project's new test subject.[4]

Shortly after, the explosion and ensuing destruction spreading across Levianta mutilated Irina, causing her to lose all her limbs and suffer from internal bleeding. Perceiving Elluka to be the cause of the catastrophe, she swore vengeance, even if it took her a hundred years to achieve that revenge. Alone in the wasteland of her country, she was approached by a severely burnt Seth, illuminated by the moon and carrying a red stuffed cat under his arm.[5]

With the scientist's help, Irina entered the cat and possessed it as her new body.[6] Learning that she was in fact a HER and the last of her kind, Irina set herself on a new goal and began to acquire the Seven Deadly Sins with the intention of spreading malice throughout the world, possessing magically potent bodies to make up for her feline body's lack of ability.[7] Around this time, she discovered Elluka had become a vessel for the twin gods, Levia-Behemo and planned to eventually steal them from her.[8]

Meeting the Duke

"Let’s try and increase my number of friends."
―I.R. regarding her plan to create more HERs[src]
Chara img5

Referring to herself as “I.R.”, she traveled in search of the vessels of sin.[9] At some point, she created a vast information network and recruited numerous subordinates to her cause, placing several of her pawns within the various governments.[10] Around the same time, she earned the support of a group within Levin's Behemo sect among other orgnaizations.[11] Throughout her journey, she occasionally visit the Tree of Held in his forest and speak with the god.[12]

Around EC 135, she located the sword holding the Demon of Lust in an Asmodean village in the Beelzenian Empire and destroyed the town. While there, she discovered Haru Netsuma and recognized her strong magical power. The sorceress then possessed her body and used it as her new medium, collecting her new vessel of sin and leaving. As she continued her mission, she caused mayhem and destruction with her new body to pass the time.

Around December, EC 135, realizing her limits to spread malice alone and feeling lonely as the only HER left in the world, I.R. came up with a plan to use the vessel she acquired to spawn more HERs. Choosing Duke Ilotte Venomania to be the Demon of Lust's contractor due to his great influence, the sorceress set up a meeting with him in December of that year. Arriving at his mansion on the intended date, the mage rang the doorbell but no one answered.

After several more tries, the impatient I.R. grabbed the door handle and used a lockpicking spell to unlock it. Delightfully surprised, she found piles of the servants' bodies stacked before her. Deducing the slaughter was caused by a single person, either with exceptional stamina or enough hatred to overcome boundaries, I.R. smiled and searched for the killer. Heading into the dining room, I.R. saw the murderer as he prepared to stab himself with his bloodied sword.

Although knowing his answer, the sorceress inquired why he searched for death. When the male suddenly jerked to notice she was in the room, she saw his facial deformity and realized his motives behind the massacre. She then asked if he hated everything around him and he explained that he could never attain love; she queried if slaughtering everyone fulfilled that desire. Met with a "no" and his desperate tears, I.R. was reminded of when she killed Elluka.

Iriina venomania

I.R. watching Cherubim make the contract with the demon

After the sorceress asked why he didn't just grab his desire instead of end it with death, he replied that it wouldn't have ended in such a way if he could. The sorceress affirmed she could fulfill his dream, retracting the vessel of Lust from her robes. Telling him to replace the sword he carried with the katana when he impaled himself to attain his desire, he questioned the statement and she bluntly replied that she was a sorceress and she was suggesting he make a contract with a demon.

In response to his surprise, she asked if he was scared by the word and he replied that he was just familiar with it. Catching her interest, she listened to his explanation of being called a "demon" before the sword was taken from her hands. When the young man began looking around the room frantically, she asked if he heard someone or if it was causing him discomfort. After he noted how nice it made him feel, she said it was the voice of the demon and that it meant he was given the right to make a contract with it.[13]

As he stabbed himself with the vessel and forged the contract with the Demon of Lust, a smile slowly lit on her face.[14] With the young man christening himself as "Sateriasis Venomania", I.R. introduced herself and agreed to let him keep the sword to gain more power, so long as helped her whenever needed.[15] After learning the man had been witnessed by someone else, I.R. taught him how to perform the amplification ritual to invoke the sword's memory manipulation power on either sex within the area.

Sateriasis then hastily performed the ritual, wiping both his and the target's memories regarding him.[16] Leaving the amnesic young man to his own devices, I.R. used her connections to set him up as the new Duke of Asmodean while tasking one of her subordinates, Tette Cetera, with handling the aftermath of the incident to help give the new duke the environment to freely act as he pleased. Spying on him for some time, I.R. grew bored with Saterasis resisting his lustful urges and keeping himself isolated.[17]

First Seduction

"Idiot, why didn't you stop her? Why didn't you make her yours?"
"Is that you, I.R.? Long time no see."
―I.R. and Sateriasis[src]

In early January of EC 136, the sorceress was amused to learn he had invited a woman into his home. When the woman, Lukana Octo, and him had left town for her departure, I.R. followed them without her medium to the city border and saw the tailor reject the Duke and leave. After he collapsed to his knees, I.R. called him an idiot, asking why he didn't stop Lukana and make her his. Surprised to hear Sateriasis call her by name, the cat asked if he regained his memories.

The Duke said he remembered she was a beautiful sorceress and the mage demanded he answer her seriously. Once Venomania stated he remembered what he needed to do, she encouraged him to go after her, saying he should fly to catch up. As the Duke expressed his doubts, she said it was fine since the sun had risen and no one was around, wondering if he still forgot how to use his powers.

Told he simply never tried it, the red cat replied that he should consider it like a test and that it shouldn't have been difficult to do. Venomania questioned if she could just teleport him and she leaped in front of the Duke, noting how she was incapable of magic in her current form. Telling him again to go before he couldn't catch up to her, she threatened to burn him to ashes if he kept lazing about; the Duke countered that she couldn't currently use magic and the annoyed mage told him to stop rambling and go.

Once the Duke sprouted wings and took flight, I.R. reminded him to fly as high as possible and not be seen, wondering if he even heard her words as he left. Afterward, the concerned mage retrieved Haru's body and followed after him to the forest between Lasaland and the neighboring village. Seeing Venomania had seduced Lukana but was spotted by a terrified bystander, I.R. heard Venomania deduce she was scared of seeing him half-naked. Screaming that he was wrong, the sorceress explained her reasons for being there and remarked how she repeatedly told him not to be seen by anyone yet his wings, horns, and claws were all seen.

When the Duke ignored her concerns and asked if the girl wanted to return to his mansion with him, I.R. realized his intentions and said he could do as he pleased. After the girl refused and fled, Venomania asked her why his Lust spell didn't work and the mage surmised a few possibilities. When the Duke questioned if he should chase after her, I.R. noted the carriages carrying goods for the market would pass by soon and that he shouldn't risk causing more trouble. She then suggested they return to the mansion before talking more, saying they had a lot regarding their future plans to discuss, including the girl that fled.

After assuring him they could always solve the situation with the girl when they needed to, Sateriasis collected Lukana and the three returned to the mansion.[18] With the Duke remembering his contract, I.R. explained to him that he wouldn't need to make a demonic transformation to brainwash women as he grew used to his powers, adding that regular intercourse with women was required to keep him from suffering uncontrollable lust.[19]

Peasant Girl of Abito

"The girl with the water jug you mentioned before... she's in that village, right?"
"Yes, that's right. That girl—Mikulia Greeonio is a peasant living in Abito village."
―Duke Venomania and I.R.[src]

Over the next several days, I.R. used her information network in order to locate the girl and learned that her name was Mikulia Greeonio from the village of Abito, predicting no one would believe the peasant claiming she saw a "demon" without evidence. At some point, the yet-amnesiac Venomania asked the sorceress why he had killed his entire family and she refused to answer, telling him only what he had said to her. During the time, she also noticed how often the Duke was spending time with Lukana for their sexual encounters.

In February of EC 136, after a week had passed, I.R. discussed her newfound information with him and they agreed to pursue the girl. The sorceress then ordered Lukana to take care of Haru's body while they were away, deciding to not use magic and observe how the duke's evil would play out. After leaving the body in the tailor's care, the red joined the Duke in his carriage ride to Abito. Shortly after beginning the ride, Venomania fell asleep. After an hour of travel, the cat noticed him seemingly having a nightmare.

Once Sateriasis awakened, Irina asked him if he was up, noting his bad dreams while staring pointedly out the window. After the Duke asked how long they had been traveling, I.R. replied it was about an hour and complained they didn't have to travel the whole way by carriage. As he told her that traveling to a neighboring village on foot wasn't good for his image, she expressed incredulity that he cared about that now when not bringing along a servant was just as odd.

After Sateriasis' reply was overheard, he lowered his voice and asked if it was okay to speak normally like this, as talking cats were a rare thing. I.R. replied airily that it was fine, as the Duke was the only one able to understand her words and that to the coachman he just appeared an odd cat lover. Stating that was also a problem, the Duke asked the sorceress why she didn't come as a young woman and she explained that a woman with no background appearing beside the Duke would start rumors, while also noting it was more convenient to travel as a cat.

Following a period of silence, the I.R. asked Sateriasis if he had ever been in Abito village, to which he replied that he hadn't, at least that he remembered. She then began to groom herself before the Duke asked if the girl who had spotted him was indeed living in the village, which the cat affirmed. When he expressed amazement at being able to find her so quickly, she said that she had connections in the government of this country and proudly added that his becoming Duke was also her doing.

After Sateriasis stated he was heir to the Dukes and would have received the title without her help, I.R. called him naive.  As the Duke then stretched and noted he was still tired, she remarked it was because he had stayed up all night, then adding that he had done this the night before as well. As Sateriasis went on to say how Lukana should also be sleeping soundly now, I.R. expressed amazement at how he was able to make love to her for a whole week without becoming tired.

After he said that she had made him this way and asked if she was becoming red, the sorceress quipped that her whole body was already red. Later, the Duke asked what to do about Lukana's parents and uncle since they'd begin to worry about their daughter going missing. The mage simply told him she had a solution. When he questioned what that solution was exactly, the cat stated she would elaborate on it once they dealt with Mikulia. She then watched as the carriage passed through the gates to Abito.

Once Sateriasis met with the village chief, I.R. stayed around while the old man droned on about Duke Ilotte's yearly visits and Sateriasis' sex appeal for around an hour. Bored, the cat yawned and told Venomania she'd go on ahead before scurrying off into the village. While traversing the village, I.R. thought how much easier it would be to just burn the village to ashes like many of the others she had gone to. Reminding herself she couldn't use magic as a cat anyhow, she noted the convenience of having a partner.

Finding Mikulia casually walking through the village, I.R. secretly tailed her and cursed the Duke's absence, wonder if the village chief was still detaining him. Confirming her prediction was accurate, I.R. qualified that they couldn't leave her alone forever. After witnessing her pray to the forest at the edge of Abito, I.R. realized she was doing the Held sect's Prayer to the Forest, deducing Held somehow found a way to disrupt the Duke's spell for his followers. Cursing the god, she ground her teeth and Mikulia turned around and noticed her. Calling her the "demon's minion", I.R. involuntarily bemoaned the name aloud.

When Mikulia pointed out her being a cat should've made her demon's minion, I.R. chastised the narrow viewpoint as the result of some tales affecting the future generation of humans. Reaffirming that she wasn't the Duke's minion, I.R. clarified that was she was the one using him when she suddenly realized the girl was oddly understanding her. As she tried to ask how the girl was doing that, Sateriasis stepped in the way and stated he found her. When Mikulia excitedly exclaimed about her "demon prince" being there, I.R. listened to the unafraid girl explain that she found him "cool" and that he was the prince that was supposed to make her happy.

Once the Duke looked to her for help, inquiring if he should try his Lust spell again, I.R. suggested he try it while no one was looking before remarking that it probably still wouldn't work. Afterward, she watched the two embrace and the girl bubbly accept joining him at his mansion following the spell invocation. When the confused Duke noted it seemed to work, the puzzled cat questioned if it really did.

As the two attempted to return into the village, I.R. told Sateriasis to wait and reminded him of the trouble he'd cause taking her in broad daylight. When Venomania again questioned what to do, the cat jumped onto Mikulia's shoulder and whispered that she should return home, commanding her to leave her house in secret at midnight so her family wouldn't notice. Mikulia then said that she didn't know where the Duke lived and I.R. responded that she'd stay behind as well and lead her there at midnight.

After Mikulia agreed and reluctantly left for the village, Sateriasis teasingly pointed out how considerate that was for her. I.R. then scoffed that it was simply because she had things to ask that girl. When the Duke then decided to return home to Lukana and began to leave, the cat sighed while watching his back, thinking how he didn't even bother to ask her further about her conversation with Mikulia; she then expressed her worry about his future.[20]

Second Try

"Then it went well?"
"Yeah. Most likely. From today onward, the fact that I've come in contact with you and these women has been erased from the people’s memory."
―I.R. and Duke Venomania[src]

The cat then waited at the village til midnight and led Mikulia back to the Duke's mansion in Lasaland, questioning her along the way.[21] I.R. eventually learned she harbored the Demon of Sloth, Eve Moonlit, inside her, hence her ability to understand the cat and be unaffected by Venomania's brainwashing.[22] Once the mage delivered Mikulia to Duke Venomania, she regained control of Haru's body.

Later that night, the mage joined the other ladies in the basement to watch Sateriasis attempt the amplification ritual once again. After he removed the sword from its sheath, she warned him to be careful, advising that he pay close attention to the power. She then added that he could end up wiping both his and the targets' memories if anything went wrong. The Duke affirmed he was aware and then begun the ritual.

The mage then watched as the duke and his new harem girls recited the chant. As Mikulia continuously messed up the chant, I.R. eventually stopped the girl's recitation and told her to just wait there quietly. When the sword began emitting a light, the sorceress told him the effective range would be Lasaland and immediate vicinity, warning that the chance of the ritual failing increased if he widened the range too much.

Once the ritual was complete and Sateriasis collapsed in a nearby chair, watched as the concerned Lukana gave him water. When the duke stated he was just a little tired and questioned if it was a success, I.R. confirmed he successfully erased everone's memory of him coming in contact with the three of them. After Venomania admitted it wasn't a technique to be misused on short notice, the mage related he was right and therefore should avoid being in the public eye whenever possible.

When the duke suddenly ended their conversation and prepared to leave with Mikulia, I.R. told him to wait and asked where he was going despite already inferring the answer. Once Venomania said he was obviously heading to the bedroom, the mage said she figured before questioning how he could plan to do such with his legs staggering. The Duke insisted he had "room for dessert" and that the two were entirely unrelated. When he then asked if she wanted to join them, the unamused mage noted he seemed to want to be burned to ashes and Venomania replied that he'd rather not before leaving with Mikulia.[23]

Venomania Event

Afterward, I.R. decided to capture Eve in a proper vessel of sin for her own uses, theorizing the demons could be made ot dwell in objects other than their own with a large amount of magic and that it could be applied to human souls as well. Once she decided to craft a magic doll in Eve's image to goad the Demon of Sloth into it,[24] I.R. gathered the necessary supplies and created a mold for the doll around March. The artisan then took nechuha and began kneading muddy gunk from it into a container.

When Venomania knocked at the door, the mage ignored him until he finally entered. She then unpleasently asked what he wanted and Sateriasis answered he came to introduce his new wife to her. When the dark-skinned beauty revealed she was Lolan Eve, I.R. noted she was the dancer of Lisa A and wished her well. She then asked to confirm she was his third harem member and Sateriasis replied she was the fourth, including the mage. I.R. demanded he didn't include her without permission and Venomania noted he wouldn't permit him that body even after all the time that had passed.

She then glared at him while continuing to knead the gunk, goading him to try defiling her body if he wanted to be turned to ashes. Sateriasis changed the subject to inquire if she was preparing some kind of magic and I.R. answered he could say it was that but also the opposite. When he insisted on being told the details, the mage stated it wasn't related to him before admitting that wasn't the exact truth. As the curious duke continued to pry, I.R. eventually told him he was distracting her and demanded they get out.

Shortly after they left, the tired mage finished kneading the material and poured it into the doll mold before pouring any excess substance back into the bowl. After putting the mold in the corner of the room to dry, the mage wiped off the gunk on the arms of her robe and sat in a nearby chair to take a break. She then thought about only being able to do half the work on her own, wonder if she could borrow a kiln from the local Gine workshop to finish processing the doll.

As she then thought about Eve being in Mikulia, the mage mused the girl's apparant ignorance to being a vessel for the "demon", admitting she was a little suprised before correcting that it was much more than that. Stretching out her fatigued arms, the mage thought about Lukana's great potential as her medium, admitting her innate power was the same as Haru's body before correcting that it was definitely greater than it. Considering it'd be better to have the tailor's body as her "doll" if Haru's ever became useless, the mage pondered the term she used. While chuckling in her mind, I.R. stared at the doll mold.[25]

When Duke Venomania later brought Haru's sister Hakua to join his harem, Haru's consciousness slightly resurfaced and I.R. kept a wide berth around the girl to be safe.[26] At some point, I.R. revealed her relation to the famed craftsman, Clockworker, to Venomania.[27]

Journey to Mystica

"Well, well... Well, that's what you get for showing off, Duke."
―I.R. when the Duke's "victims" were discovered[src]

In early April of EC 136, I.R. received a lead from Tette that one of the vessels of sin, a spoon, was located in her father's tomb in the Misty Mountains. Learning she needed Sateriasis' power to unlock the tomb, the mage returned to the Venomania mansion. Entering his basement, she was briefly greeted by Sateriasis before he realized it was her, and unenthusiastically asked why she came. In response, the sorceress inquired why he was so rude before asking if he was prepared.

As the duke asked what she meant, I.R. questioned if he was playing dumb and warned him that he would then need to return the sword. After he conceded to help, Venomania asked if they would leave her "body" and I.R. affirmed that it was more convenient, charging Mikulia with taking care of Haru. Releasing control of her vessel, the sorceress followed the duke out of the mansion and later leapt upon his person. Hiding within his coat as they traveled, the sorceress took him to Mystica.

IRVenomaniaJourney

I.R. with the Duke

After Sateriasis found a guide, Lilien Turner, to lead him to the location, I.R. climbed upon the duke's shoulder and continued their journey through the ruins until they arrived at the altar. As the duke expressed disbelief that Lilien had known Lukana, I.R. retorted that Mystica was his concubine's hometown and that he should have expected it, chastising that he should learn more about the women he entranced.

The duke joked how unusual it was for her to care about women; the sorceress responded that she too was once a woman and reminded him to fulfill their contract if he wanted more power. After he agreed, the Duke unlocking and entered the tomb with her. Once he discovered a stone coffin filled with treasure, Venomania retracted the spoon from among the riches and declared he acquired a second vessel of sin.[28]

Recognizing it for one of her father's magical tools, the cat denied the duke's claim. After explaining, the disappointed Venomania tossed the weapon, shocking the sorceress and she leapt after the tool. While retrieving it, she angrily cursed Tette Cetera for the false lead and declared that she'd turn her to ashes. The duke then lectured that he wanted to avoid killing in his land and I.R. questioned if it was because Tette was a woman. Hearing his interest in adding her and other women into his harem, the sorceress leapt back on his shoulder, noting that he was at least consistent.

Once they left the tomb, she asked who would accommodate them during their stay and the duke replied they would stay with Earl Ferdinand. Noting the earl had been investigating the disappearances, she questioned his judgement. Arriving at the mansion, the sorceress attached herself to Ferdinand's wife. After the duke left for Mystica the next day, I.R. discovered the earl's secret collection of Princess Maylis' possessions.

IRFerdinandCorpse

I.R. finds the corpse of Ferdinand

That night, after the duke returned from his stroll though the town, she told him he was late and showed him her findings in the secret room. Describing Ferdinand's fetish for Maylis and his wife's apparent ignorance or apathy about it, citing that he was pathetic. After listening to the duke's fascination with the princess, she explored the mansion and discovered the earl's corpse within a room. Quoting the duke's earlier comments, she questioned the paradox of his words versus his actions, discerning he had murdered him.[29]

Several days since discovering the earl, the sorceress detached herself from her medium, touring the halls before seeing a visitor discover the bodies.[30] Noting the duke's consequences for "showing off", she continued onward and sat along the mansion's walls. Sensing the duke's demon transformation, she spoke aloud that it had begun and began traveling back to see the result of his battle with the intruder. Going back inside, she found him in the halls and asked if their battle had ended. The duke told her it had and the two left.

On their way back to Lasaland, the sorceress questioned if it was alright that he left Lilien there. When he told her she would come on her own, she chuckled and responded that he truly was evil. The duke told her they needed to hurry and she suggested they take a fast carriage. When the duke said they would take any carriage back to start loving his women, I.R. reminded him to "reward" Tette for her false information. As the duke noted that he would make love with her too, she chuckled and remarked about the things he ended up lusting for.[31] After they returned, I.R. retrieved her vessel, Haru, and remained at his mansion for a time.[32]

Decling Lust Kingdom

After Lolan Eve's dead body was discovered by Lukana, she took the corpse outside the mansion. Once she borrowed a kiln from the Gine workshop, I.R. finished crafting and refining the nechuha doll, installing it with the abilty to entrap souls to confine Eve at her will. She then gave the "Clockworker's Doll" to Mikulia as a gift and allowed the girl to play with it until Eve moved into the body.[33] Later on, I.R. learned of Annlee Sweets' discovery that Maylis, Mikulia, and Lukana were all pregnant with Venomania's offspring.[34] At some point, she noticed Lukana had the unique prophetic dream ability.

As the duke became increasingly careless in his pursuits, I.R. expected he would soon come to ruin and planned to escape with the vessels. Taking Lukana as her medium, the sorceress broke into his storage and took the Clockworker's Doll, as well as the vessel of Lust, before she was interrupted by Venomania. After explaining her intentions and seeing the duke held her no ill will, I.R. was prepared to leave before he clarified he would not let her take Lukana. As she prepared to fight Venomania, she conceded to letting him keep Lukana a little longer and departed from his home with Haru.[35]

After the Duke's death, I.R. returned to the ruins of the Levia-Behemo Temple and mused over her recent successes. Realizing she had yet to name the sword, the sorceress felt its purple aura and decided to name it the "Venom Sword" to give "thanks" to Duke Venomania. Afterward, she continued to pursue Lukana to act as her new medium but was later thwarted when Elluka swapped bodies with the tailor instead.

Search for the Glass Vessel

"Eybeesee? That's an unusual name."
"Is that so? I currently quite like it... But, I might get bored and change it sometime."
"So that's not your real name?"
"Indeed. For a mage, too many knowing one's real name can cause a great number of problems. So in my case, I change my alias on a regular basis. Well, honestly, any mage who continues using the same name for long is a fool."
―AB-CIR and Duke Muzuri[src]

Chara img6C

Around the turn of the second century EC, while continuing to search for vessels of sin, I.R. discovered the village of Gula had been practically wiped out by a disease killing an increasing number of people each day after the villagers ate a baemu pig containing a red wine glass. In the course of her investigation, she discovered the sole survivor satiated his appetite for ten years and determined it was the effects of the Demon of Gluttony magic.[36]

With Haru's resurging consciousness becoming an increasing problem and her identity as "I.R." becoming increasingly infamous, Irina reluctantly set up a public battle between her and one of her subordinates sometime later. After unleashing her flames upon the man, the mage severely burned his arm before possessing him and killing Haru. Posing as a benevolent mage that defeated the evil I.R., Irina took the name "AB-CIR" and utilized the man as her vessel. Around that time, she met a thief and became well acquainted with him and the Association organization he worked with. Unable to use magic with a male body, the sorceress began searching for a new vessel to replace it.[37]

In November of EC 296, AB-CIR passed through the town of Gasto and learned its lord, Duke Muzuri Conchita was a well reputed gourmand in Beelzenia. While there, he was approached by the Conchita Family doctor and told a strange disease afflicting the household. After the doctor explained how the disease killed one person a day and compelled them to eat the impossible, the mage suspected the vessel of Gluttony's involvement and decided to investigate. Agreeing to help, the sorceress visited the estate atop the adjacent mountain the next day, hiding her true body in her cloak.

Granted an audience with the Duke, AB-CIR kneeled before the lord and expressed her honor to meet him before introducing herself. When the Duke said she had an odd name, the mage questioned the statement and retorted she currently liked it. She then added she might get bored and change it later. AB-CIR then affirmed for Muzuri that it wasn't her real name, saying a mage's name becoming well known caused too many problems, admonishing any mage that kept the same alias for long. Smiling, the mage then explained that her current fame resulted from the recent name change and questioned if it meant she should change it again.

Once Muzuri brushed off their trivial discussion and brought up the disease afflicting them, AB-CIR said she already heard the rough story. When Muzuri recounted his chamberlain died that morning after vomitting scissors, Irina drly noted that wasn't very helpful for the servant. As Muzuri expressed his worries that his family would also be affected, AB-CIR said he understood the general situation and questioned if he received anything unusual lately.

When Muzuri answered it all started after they ate a baemu pig, the mage frowned her eyebrows. Hearing he had the household eat the pig for his daughter's birthday celebration, AB-CIR expressed her amusement and noted her belief he received a red wine glass as well. Once Muzuri confirmed they had found one in the baemu's stomach, AB-CIR snapped his fingers and declared that was it, inquiring where the glass was currently located. After Muzuri related they kept it in his treasury, Irina stated it was definitely the cause of his plight and advised he immediately discard it.

Once Muzuri sent his head chamberlain Ron to retrieve the glass, AB-CIR explained the pig was likely made a contract with a demon and explained the effects of the vessel of sin. When Muzuri considered if that made it a "demon's curse", Irina expressed that wasn't really accurate but brushed it off as trivial. While expressing uncertainty at why a pig would contract with a demon, the mage explained that the household contracted the "Gula" disease due to drinking its blood.

When Muzuri questioned the disease's name, AB-CIR related the tale of the village she derived the name from. Before finishing her story, she noticed Ron's return with the vessel of sin, the mage remarked about the "problem" wine glass; her cat body then leapt from her medium and took the wine glass from the surprised chamberlain's hands. After leaping back onto her medium's shoulder, Irina declared it would be her payment and promised to dispose of it responsibly, taking the wine glass from her true form.

Muzuri then asked if the deaths would stop and AB-CIR clarified she would only keep the disease from progressing the current death count, not heal it. As the furious duke objected to the answer, AB-CIR noted the one survivor of Gula and how he managed to survive. While uncertain if his plight was the same as the village's disease, the mage cited they might be safe from the "curse" if they survive for ten years. Asked if there was another way, she declared there was none she knew of.

AB-CIR then noted the Duke's reputation with food and queried if that made it a dream come true for him. Muzuri then prepared to attack the mage before quelling his anger. Asking again if they'd survive if they kept eating for ten years, AB-CIR asserted it would be possible, given he could even collect the food from his territory if necessary. Chuckling at the extreme measure, the mage departed from the mansion with the red wine glass soon after.[38]

Hedgehog Court Mage

Sometime after, she met with the aged thief and his new pupil, Platonic. Recognizing her as a descendant of Mikulia Greeonio, AB-CIR learned Platonic retained residual magic of the Demon of Sloth, making her innately resistance to the Demons of Sin. The mage considered her as a replacement body but, after testing her, found she had no magical talent and gave up on the endeavor.

She later arrived in Marlon but got caught in a blunder and was forced to give up the wine glass. Fleeing to Lioness, she resided at Castle Hedgehog in the service to its lord while seeking out the blue spoon in Lioness.[39] While serving him, AB-CIR learned of the man's sadism for "torture" and became fascinated by the concept, studying his methods.[40]

Disappearance of Conchita

Around EC 325, she learned that the wine glass ended up in the possession of Gourmet Noble Banica Conchita. Knowing Platonic's master had died and she became an infamous thief, AB-CIR traveled to the Association's hideout in Beelzenia to meet with her. While there, she hired her to steal the wine glass from Banica, offering her enough pay to buy the dream home she always wanted.[41] Around this time, AB-CIR learned that the Levin Church in Lucifenia gave the Twin Blades of Levianta to Elluka.[42]

Platonic later reported of her failure to the mage in the castle's dungeon, explaining that undead soldiers and a pair of malicious twins protected the estate. Overhearing their conversation, the captured Third Prince of Marlon spoke up about Banica and Platonic asked who he was.[43] AB-CIR revealed who Carlos Marlon was and listened to him offer to be a spy and steal the wine glass.[44]

Having previously killed the famed cook Joseph, AB-CIR construed a new plan and swiped the Venom Sword at the prince's face, causing him to fall unconscious with a new unrecognizable appearance. After leaving him in the care of Platonic, AB-CIR informed Carlos that the change wasn't permanent after he awoke. Freeing him of his imprisonment, "Joseph" was hired as one of Banica's cooks and successfully infiltrated the mansion. The mage then sent Platonic to Lucifenia to steal the vessel of Envy from Elluka. The sorceress lost contact with Carlos sometime after.[45]

Visiting Held

"I told you, didn't I? All I want is to get my pawn back."
―Irina to Held[src]

After discovering that Elluka had captured Platonic, AB-CIR traveled to Elphegort and visited Held. When the god immediately asked what Irina wanted, she clarified the new name she went by and jumped off her host's body; letting it slump to the ground, she noted how difficult it was to control a man. The god then queried if she changed her mind about using female bodies and the cat brushed off the idea, saying it was a necessity. When pressed by Held, Irina refused and stated she came to have a different conversation, scratching the tree's bark with her claws. The earth god complained and AB-CIR demanded he tell her where Elluka was.

Met with Held's surprise, she explained what happened to her "pawn" and that she only wanted to get her back, if possible. The god refused to tell her, asking if she planned to burn him to ashes once he answered and the cat groaned how even if she did, it wouldn't kill his true self. When pointing out that he too couldn't do anything to her while stuck as a tree, Irina asked about the opposite. The god then clarified that his destruction could allow him the chance to momentarily use his godly power to destroy her soul before leaving the mortal world, she stated that's what she wanted to avoid and continued scratching his face.

Ignoring his pleas to stop damaging him, AB-CIR asked why he hadn't told Elluka about her existence, noting that destroying HER and the vessels of sin seemed to be his goal. Held replied he couldn't let them both meet and she mockingly asked if he was afraid of the mage meeting a HER. Amused, Irina questioned why he had her hunt the vessels of sin since it meant eventually meeting the Evil Raiser who possessed them. Although Held denied it was about HER, AB-CIR brushed off his wishes and admitted her plan to eventually steal the twin gods from Elluka's body and soul.

Held inquired if that meant she wasn't planning to meet her now and the cat reiterated she just wanted her pawn back, explaining that by knowing her whereabouts, she could task her other subordinates with recovering her later; she elaborated that, despite her current state, she was a busy person and forcefully asked again about Elluka's location, strongly clawing at Held's face. Seeing Held's discomfort, AB-CIR commented about the Hedgehog lord's torture hobby and how she was wanting to try it.

After several tens of minutes of clawing at him, the tired cat chuckled and noted the god's stubbornness. She then decided to quit for the day, returning to her vessel before leaving.[46] In August of that year, Platonic escaped from Elluka and completed her mission, giving the wine glass to AB-CIR.[47] She later lost possession of the Venom Sword,[48] as well as the Glass.[49]

Daughter of Fog

"Stepfather was completely consumed by his hatred for Gast. Was that Stepfather's true nature or the instigation of the old woman who stood beside him—Abyss I.R.? That is also something I don't understand, even now."
―Yvette in a letter to Yukina Freesis[src]

Sometime afterward, Irina took an old woman as her medium and adopted the pseudonym "Abyss I.R." for herself. Desiring to collect the Venom Sword again for her plans, Abyss I.R. tracked the vessel to the orphaned Zenon in Elphegort. After learning about the descendent of her old acquaintance, Duke Venomania, Abyss followed the road across the Asmodean border to the country in EC 473 and crossed paths with the child. When the starved boy attacked her, she smiled and enveloped the boy in her flames. Respecting his beautiful face, she avoided burning it and left him injured and unconscious on the side of the road so he could be found later before leaving with the sword.

Curious if the sword had lost its power, the sorceress planned to use Zenon to test the vessel. Learning of Zenon's exploits as a soldier for the Asmodean Emperor using the name "Gast Venom", Abyss approached Head of Intelligence Futapie in EC 477 and had her research the boy's past. Gaining a witness from Gast's hometown, Abyss and the green-haired man followed the Intelligence agent to the home of Gast's superior, General Shalgham. Once the documents of Gast's past were delivered and the Head of Intelligence left, Abyss I.R. allowed the witness to confirm the information and that the general's foster daughter, Yvette, shared a great likeness with Gast's dead sister, Sarah.

The sorceress then spoke to Shalgham about the plan to have Gast killed using Yvette and the Venom Sword as the motivator. Once Shalgham accepted the plan, it was executed out at the Misty Mountains. With Gast coming under the sword's influence and determined to fight back and kill the general, the sorceress confirmed that it was still functional. On the last night when it was planned for Gast to die, Abyss I.R. stood beside Shalgham when Yvette managed to avoid the sorceress and kill her stepfather with a golden knife. Although surprised that Yvette wielded the vessel of Wrath, she did not pursue the fleeing child and instead confronted Gast at her father's altar.

Emerging from the fog, she greeted him, poking fun at his name change. When Gast questioned why she was there, the sorceress explained that she had given his ancestor the sword and had simply returned to take it back. After Gast refused, she noted that was fine at first but mused how Yvette unexpectedly became "worried". In the instant she prepared to conjure her flames, Gast struck out at her neck. Cackling after the blade cut into her "body", the sorceress told Gast that it was useless to use the sword on her and that his family never learned. Blasting his chest with flames, she teased that she promised not to burn him completely again, in deference to his face. After consuming him in flames and rendering him unconscious again, she took back the vessel of sin and left.[50]

Dark Conspiracy

"Then one day, Abyss visited the castle. She, for my ambition—offered to cooperate with me for the prosperity of Marlon."
―Prim Marlon[src]

In the early EC 480s, while traversing the Blood Pool Region of Marlon, Abyss I.R. came in contact with Queen Prim Marlon. When the Queen expressed her disbelief that Abyss was a powerful mage, she swiped the Venom Sword before her, claiming it to be a lucky love charm. Aware that King Arth's children would be next in the reincarnation cycle of Hänsel and Gretel and of Prim's history with Arth, the sorceress allowed the Queen to borrow the vessel and use it to seduce him.

Many months later in EC 482, after Prim had returned from her trip to Lucifenia and was confirmed pregnant, Abyss I.R. returned to the castle and offered to assist the Queen in her ambitions for a more powerful Marlon. She then presented two conditions, one being that she help her collect the other vessels of sin, and the other being that she give her a child for magical experimentation. The two then agreed to make the formal arrangement after Prim had her child the following month. Once Prim discovered her child was blond and risked a scandal, she agreed to give the girl to her and Abyss I.R. named her "Ney".

Over the years, Abyss I.R. served as Prim's court mage, finishing Prim's magical training she begun with Elluka and letting her use the vessels of sin she acquired for her own purposes. Around the same time, she experimented on Ney, studying the reincarnation of Gretel for her magical research; she also trained the golden-haired child to become her spy and assassin, reinforcing the girl's loyalty to her mother.[51] While serving Prim, Abyss I.R. openly caused unhappiness for others.

At some point, the sorceress proposed creating "new facilities" for espionage and Prim gave her permission to develop it; training multiple women as elite spies and agents for several years, Abyss I.R. eventually established the Espionage Task Force.[52] Hoping to maintain her beauty from youth, Prim had Abyss cast a spell to mask her aging appearance.[53] With the help of Duke Sfarz, the queen and sorceress collected the Marlon Spoon and Glass of Conchita. Once they acquired the vessel of Pride, Abyss I.R. separated the mirror into four smaller hand mirrors, telling Prim that it had more advantages that way.[54]

Twiright Prank

"To fool that pitiful man and make the demon possess him, just as you planned."
―Ney to Abyss I.R.[src]

In EC 490, Prim asked Abyss to assassinate King Arth and his children, Prince Alexiel and Princess Riliane. The mage then stated it was possible but that the Queen would have leave it to her methods. Given the reigns to the assassination mission, the sorceress used the Glass of Conchita to cause a Gula epidemic in the Beelzenian Empire, far from Marlon, in order to goad King Arth into pressing his invasion of the weakened state without contaminating the Blue Country.

After Arth was infected and died of the plague the following year, the mage agreed to kill Arth's twin heirs with the help of Prim's brother, Presi Rogzé.[55] Around December of EC 491, she placed the Demon of Gluttony inside the Mirror of Lucifenia and made it difficult for anyone to exorcise but Presi. Abyss also gave Ney one of the four mirrors and tasked her with infiltrating the royal palace and spy on events that transpired for her, planning to trick Presi and have the Demon possess him.

Once Prim sent the sorceress with a letter to have her brother cooperate with them, she met with the minister at the royal palace and gave him the letter. Believing their plan was to have Alexiel become possessed by the Demon of Pride and elevate both his and Prim's designs, the minister agreed to the arrangement. After showing Presi the mirror, the minister asked if it the ordinary-looking hand mirror was truly a vessel of sin. Abyss, pointing at the mirror's surface, instructed him to look closely and pointed out the faint red light of the demon inside it.

Still faced with his skepticism, the sorceress brushed off his disbelief as his choice although noting he wasn't in a position to choose. After he spoke aloud that his sister was attempting to take control of Lucifenia through him, she joked she didn't know much about politics, the cat then meowing in unison with her body's chuckle. When asked who she was, she explained she was a sorceress and that most people didn't believe her.

AbyssIR

Abyss I.R. setting the trap

At Presi's implication that Elluka was staying at the palace, Irina's fur slightly bristled up and the sorceress commented their mission might actually be troublesome. Suggesting they lure the prince outside so Elluka wouldn't suspect anything, Presi explained that Princess Riliane and Prince Alexiel often escaped from the palace to play at the nearby beach.

Enthusiastic about the idea, Abyss I.R. said they needed to prepare and chuckled before disappearing from the room. After placing the mirror in a black box and burying it in the sand where they would play, the sorceress hid in the Forest of Bewilderment and watched as the twins played. Once they found the mirror, she summoned the Demon of Gluttony from the vessel and it possessed Riliane.

A few days later, Abyss I.R. met with Presi in the palace after he attempted to make the princess Arth's heir. When he breathlessly commented that the plan was going well despite the wrong twin being possessed, the sorceress jokingly applauded his ability to adapt to the situation and laughed. Petting her cat body while the minister blamed her for the situation, she calmly replied that even she couldn't perfectly predict the demon's actions.

When asked why the possessed Riliane had such a strange appetite when she was supposed to be possessed by a "Demon of Pride", the sorceress acted surprised and nonchalantly brushed off her apparent mess up. Presi then asked if there was anyway to keep her possession secret from the others and Abyss I.R. said it wasn't easy but that his ambition would come true in time. After warning him about Elluka and the Three Heroes, she disappeared in a cloud of vapor.

Later meeting with Ney on a hill in the outskirts of Lucifenia, she listened to her report. Asking what happened after Presi became possessed by the demon and attacked Elluka, Ney explained how Mariam Futapie saved her and helped defeat him. The sorceress sarcastically mused how pitiable their success was to cost a life and Ney responded that it was exactly as Abyss had planned. The mage then noted how the child spoke like an adult, then asked about the Demon. After learning Elluka exorcised it from Riliane and returned it to the mirror, Irina praised Elluka for exorcising it despite her attempts to make it difficult.

She then admonished her sister-in-law for only collecting one of the four mirrors and that, with the Demon of Pride replaced with the Demon of Gluttony in the mirror, she could easily reawaken the Demon so long as the vessel Prim had was safe; calling it Elluka's payment for not learning about the vessels during her long lifetime, the sorceress begun walking in circles as she muttered to herself regarding their current situation. Deciding to use the same method she had used on Arth to kill Queen Anne and break up the Three Heroes, she grumbled it would take seven to eight years for the glass' pathogen to infect and kill her.

With her thought finished, she checked if Ney remembered what to do and still had one of the mirrors. After reminding her to remember everything she was taught and to endure the long wait till Queen Anne's death, she told her to then replant the Demon on Riliane and that she was counting on her, saying it was all for her mother's sake.[56] Soon after, she revived the demon in the Glass and conjured another strain of the Gula disease to infect Anne.[57]

Decisive Play

"Regardless of your hopes, when the time comes, I plan to approach her on my own. And then I'll steal both sides of "that" from her body and soul!"
―Irina to Held[src]

In EC 494, after Duke Sfarz was killed by his daughter, Mikina, via the Marlon Spoon, Prim forced the aristocrat to replace her father in their conspiracy and follow Abyss I.R.'s instructions; once Mikina agreed to collaborate with them, Abyss exorcised the Demon of Greed from the noble.[58] With the continued success of Abyss I.R.'s Espionage Task Force, Prim consolidated their position and increased their influence.[59] After Anne's death in January of EC 499, the angered Prim demanded they overthrow the Kingdom of Lucifenia and install her son, King Kyle, as a great ruler. Abyss I.R. agreed to assist in the endeavor.

With Ney successfully transplanting the Demon of Pride to Princess Riliane,[60] Abyss maintained contact with Mikina through a Very Amazing Green Onion and gave her the Venom Sword,[61] instructing the aristocrat to give it to her husband to set up Kyle for demonic possession. As planned, Kyle's interactions with Keel led to his possession.[62] Once the King's sweetheart, Michaela, was discovered to be Elluka's apprentice, Abyss had Ney learn the girl's location from Mikina and assure she was killed during the Green Hunting.[63]

With the success of the Lucifenian Revolution, all of the Three Heroes save for Elluka were killed and Marlon successfully occupied Lucifenia; aware that the Princess had fled to a monastery along the coastline, the mage omitted the detail to Prim and let her believe she was executed during the revolution. Abyss then extracted the Demon of Lust from Kyle, telling Prim it served its use, but the Queen had him possessed by the Demon of Pride instead.[64]

In EC 502, the sorceress discovered the fugitive Elluka and her apprentice, Gumillia, infiltrating the Marlon royal palace and ambushed them, capturing Elluka's body while failing to apprehend Gumillia.[65] When Kyle asked to use the Espionage Task Force for his Witch Hunt later that year, Abyss I.R. was allowed to choose its head, selecting Ney to spearhead the inquisition.[66]

In EC 505, because the Freesis Family funded the convent, Abyss I.R. ordered Mikina to visit the monastery along Lucifenia's shores over the next few months to spy on "Rin", considering the child as her next body since she had been demonically possessed.[67] Abyss later gave Ney the Glass of Conchita to use as part of Kyle's planned invasion of Beelzenia. She later returned to ask the sorceress more questions about the glass, dissatisfied with its reanimated army's effectiveness.[68]

Thwarting the Voyage

"Ye do have blue hair like the wench sputtered..."
―Yarera to King Kyle[src]

AbyssIRElluka2

Over a month later, when Kyle was freed of demonic possession and both Gumillia and the blue-haired king began heading for Marlon, Prim fled to Castle Hedgehog and tasked Abyss with halting Kyle's advance. Using Lukana's body as her medium, "Abyss I.R." was declared dead while she continued her service to Prim.[69]

The mage then contacted the Captain Yarera of the Yarera pirates and offered him and his brother, Zusco, a substantial reward for abducting the blue-haired man, omitting mention of Kyle's identity. Once the pirates accepted the offer and embarked on their journey to intercept the king, Abyss magically grew a ziz tiama to an enormous size and sent the massive octopus after Kyle's voyaging ship.[70]

Reunited with the Apprentice

When the attack failed, Abyss I.R. traveled to Bariti. After learning they were staying at the Freesis Mansion in Marlon, the sorceress, impersonating Elluka, arrived at the estate and greeted Keel and Mikina's daughter. Offered black tea, the sorceress refused, requesting the servant bring her milk instead. Soon after, they encountered Gumillia at the door. Suggesting they talk in private, Abyss I.R. agreed and headed outside by the Column Forest before attacking her.

Locked in combat, the sorceress managed to overwhelm Gumillia within a few attacks but then Yukina and Germaine Avadonia arrived. Revealing herself to the trio, Abyss summoned three black bears to attack the green-haired mage. While Germaine subdued the creatures, Abyss I.R. swiftly approached and grabbed Gumillia, stating she would take the mage's body. At that moment, Elluka's spirit called out and wrestled control from the sorceress, sending both women flying into the air.[71]

Cutting Losses

"Mama, have you been hijacked by Abyss?"
"Something like that."
―Yukina and Abyss I.R.[src]

Without a medium, the sorceress headed after Elluka, Gumillia, Germaine, and Yukina when she was found by Mikina, choosing to take in the mage for her family's protection. Soon after at the mansion, Abyss escaped from the aristocrat and meandered her way into Gumillia's room with the others. While grooming herself innocently, Elluka, Yukina, and Germaine debated keeping it when they all heard Mikina searching for the cat.

Irina immediately rushed for the door when Mikina poked her head in and found her. Picked up, the aristocrat hugged the sorceress to her cheeks, unamused. As Mikina told everyone she was keeping the cat, claiming how cute it was, she squeezed the annoyed sorceress. Abyss I.R. later played with Mikina outside by the mansion's front door when King Kyle was thrown out of the house and Mikina exchanged greetings with the King.[72]

Shortly after Kyle, Keel, Yukina, Elluka, and Gumillia left for Lioness a few days later, Abyss I.R. took Mikina as her medium. Donning the Almoga Mobarez mask from Keel's storehouse, the mage pursued the group. Following the death of Queen Dowager Prim and Ney's capture, Abyss fought through the guards at Lioness Castle using the Marlon Spoon.

As she approached the room where Ney and the vessels were being kept, she saw Keel come out and mistake her for Mikina. She then knocked him on the head with a blunt instrument and used the Marlon Spoon to render Gumillia, Kyle, Yukina, Germaine, and Elluka unconscious. Stabbing Ney where she slept, Abyss took the vessels and fled.[73]

Battle on the Beach

"Why haven't you already left this region?"
"I'm looking for something. It isn't hard to find."
―Germaine and Abyss I.R.[src]

The mage then traveled to Lucifenia and met with Clarith at the monastery under the guise of being Mikina over a week and half later in search of something. Four days later, the masked mage set out into the coastline near the monastery; anticipating danger, the sorceress hid her cat body in a beachside shed as a precaution. While walking along the beach that night, she was confronted by Germaine. Forced into a standoff at swordpoint, the two silently stared at each other until Germaine declared she finally found the sorceress.

Impressed, Abyss chuckled and teased if her realization was suggested by someone. Turning to face the ocean, the mage slowly walked towards the sea while asking if Elluka and Gumillia were searching Marlon and sent her to Lucifenia as insurance. After turning to face Germaine again, the sorceress affirmed it was a good call, noting Elphegort's current blocked and Levianta's too far distance. Germaine replied that Gumillia was actually sent to Levianta as well and Irina expressed her approval of Elluka's preparedness that time.

When the swordswoman asked why she hadn't already left the region, Irina answered that she was still looking for something, though it was easy to find. Once Germaine assumed her objective was to collect a vessel of sin, Irina teased if that was really the case before noticing Yukina watching the two of them. After staring at the girl for a bit, the mage slowly removed her mask and smiled at her "daughter". Acting frightened, the grinning sorceress asked why Yukina was there at night and begged her for help, claiming Germaine was going to hurt her over a misunderstanding.

As the mage approached the girl, Germaine stepped between them. When Yukina asked her "mother" if Abyss I.R. had hijacked her body. The mage then admitted to it. As Germaine explained to Yukina that Abyss' soul hadn't actually been in Elluka's body from the start, the mage scoffed that they hadn't already noticed that. Germaine then recounted Elluka's doubts and subsequent conclusion about the mage after the attack at Lioness, asking about where her red cat was.

Tsking herself, the mage remarked that hiding it was the right answer. She then saw Germaine invoke an inscription rune in her sword to locate the cat. Recognizing it was Gumillia's handiwork, Abyss cursed and chased after Germaine towards the shed. Once the swordswoman kicked down the door, Irina leaped from her hiding place and ran toward her medium, climbing upon Mikina's shoulder. Yukina then angrily yelled for her to release her mother.

Amused, Abyss I.R. teased how brave she was acting before pointing out she couldn't do it alone. As she laughed, Germaine interrupted and extended her sword toward the cat, pointing out Mikina's aristocrat body was ultimately human and her talk was simple bravado. After admitting her weak body was inconvenient, the sorceress pulled out the Marlon Spoon and clarified she did still had it at her disposal.

Seeing Germaine recognize it as a vessel of sin, Abyss applauded her sharp instincts and noted how quickly she healed since their last battle. Intrigued when the swordswoman retorted it was because she ate a lot, she remarked about her resemblance to Banica Conchita and purported she might be her relative. Carefully approaching Germaine while remaining out of her sword's reach, the mage muttered she wanted her body.

As Yukina attempted to throw pebbles, Abyss didn't even attempt to dodge the feeble attacks while they missed. When the child then demanded the "villain" desist, Irina meowed and questioned if she was referring to "Abyss I.R." or her actual mother. Wondering aloud how much she actually knew about the noble's involvement, the mage asked if she really thought she was so innocent. As she continued to question if the girl had no doubts about Mikina's odd behavior, the noble's consciousness resurged and briefly took over, begging she keep Yukina from knowing the truth.

After regaining control, Abyss I.R. stood up again and applauded her taking control. Laughing, the mage stated she'd let the woman briefly have control so that she could confess it to Yukina herself. Invoking her connection to her and the Demon of Greed, Irina widened her feline eyes and forced Mikina to admit the details of her involvement with Prim and her. As Germaine attempted to stop her, Irina's hair stood on end as she invoked the spoon's power, launching the swordswoman across the beach with the blast.

Once Mikina finished her story and talking about Irina's intentions, Abyss regained control and laughed, asking Yukina if she enjoyed her mother's confession. As she continued to eerily laugh, the mage rose to her feet again and reiterated how she could still use the demons' power through Mikina's body, even without magic. Invoking the spoon's power, she enveloped Yukina with its flames before being attacked from behind by Rin, interrupting her spell.

Struggling with the nun to keep her from stealing the vessel, Irina demanded she let go before flinging her across the sand. Furious, Abyss I.R. exclaimed that dissipating the flames was unneeded and raised the spoon toward them. When the attack was suddenly cancelled, Irina noticed the glowing red light from within Mikina's dress and pulled out the Glass of Conchita. Questioning if the Demon of Gluttony was interfering, the mage was enraged to discover it was the absorbed Ney.

As Germaine attempted to strike Irina's true form, the cat angrily screeched and leaped off her shoulder, barely scratching Germaine with her claws. Abandoning her medium, the sorceress sprinted toward the nightlit port town. As she fled, she was suddenly skewered by Germaine's thrown rapier and cried out before collapsing in the sand.[74] Defeated and believed to be dead, the sorceress patched up her feline body after they all left and,[75] having lost several of her vessels of sin to Elluka, escaped.

New Four Horsemen

"Not bad... I want that body."
―Irina regarding Germaine[src]

In EC 508, she traveled to Divine Levianta and acquired the Twin Blades of Levianta. She then collaborated with Mikhail Asayev, using the vessel of Envy to possess Mikhail and influence the creation of Neo Apocalypse and its subsequent terrorism.[76] While causing the New Four Horsemen Incident, she encountered Germaine and they battled. Taking advantage of Germaine's neck injury from their last encounter, Abyss I.R. defeated the swordswoman and took possession of her body.[77] Losing the twin blades to Chartette Langley, she retreated.[78] Around this time, she reclaimed the Glass of Conchita from Elluka.[79]

Jakoku Civil War

In EC 549,[80] the sorceress located Chartette in Jakoku and traveled to the Eastern nation. Crossing a bridge outside Enbizaka to face the aged warrior, the two exchanged words before dueling. During their battle Irina quickly overwhelmed the elderly woman and consumed her in flames. Once the warrior was dead, she suddenly looked up at the sky and made eye contact with a bat before returning her gaze forward. With the Glass of Conchita in hand, she left.[81]

Père Noël

"Do your chore without complaining! Or should I turn you to ashes instead?"
"Understood."
"Finish before my son comes home."
"Roger... Then please excuse me, First―Er―President."
―Julia Abelard and Gatt Coulomb[src]

I. the Santa

Later on, Irina forged her identity as "Julia Abelard" and amassed a large fortune, eventually buying a title of nobility in Lucifenia. At some point, Julia encountered Mayrana Blossom in Beelzenia and took her on as an apprentice, teaching her magic, her history with Elluka and the vessels of sin, and how to craft the Rogzé Family variant of Gift.[82]

Julia later formed the criminal organization Père Noël, taking on the codename of "First Santa Claus";[83] Mayrana then immediately joined as "Fourth Shadow", tasked with acting as a shadow leader for Julia.[84] Planning to eventually become the Lucifenian Republic's President, Julia began performing good works and promoting her public image throughout the country. To help her reputation, she visited the various orphanges and gave gifts to the children there during the December festivities.

In EC 593, Julia traveled to the Felix Mansion in Toragay, Elphegort with the Clockworker's Doll, garbed in a cloak. After entering the mansion, the mage found Dr. Marx's wife and newborn child both dead.[85] Julia swapped out the baby with the Doll and activated its hypnosis to replace the real Margarita Felix.[86] Julia then left immediately after with the child in-hand.

Later on, Julia and her apprentice discovered Elluka and her disciple, Gumillia, were posing as Freesis Foundation's CEO Shaw Freesis' dead great-grandchildren: Hanne and Heidemarie Lorre. In EC 597, Julia assigned Mayrana's first job: Burn the town of Lioness and blame it on Elluka. Afterward, her apprentice completed the mission and succeeded in ruining Elluka's reputation as Julia planned.[87]

Some time later, Santa and Shadow learned of an alleged fortune teller owning a shop in Rollam and visited the woman. After proving their power as actual mages, Julia offered Yuzette Ora to join her criminal organization in exchange for doing a side job changing customers' faces with the Venom Sword. Once the woman accepted the deal, Santa gave her the codename "Seventh Magician" in light of her current and new profession.

When Magician expressed her interest in becoming her and Mayrana's disciple, Julia tested the woman. Finding she lacked any magical talent, she expelled her. Around this time, Santa told Seventh Magician how people with magic talent like Mayrana were rare following the Levianta Catastrophe. She likewise explained to the fortune teller that the long extinct Loop Octopus Clan were the sole possessors of prophetic abilities; she also elaborated about her ambition to become the country's leader and their plans in Père Noël.[88]

Later on, Santa came in contact with the fugitive Kaidor Blankenheim. Surmising his desire to escape his identity and situation, Julia directed him to Seventh Magician's location in Rollam to have the face change operation. She eventually recruited a new member as "Fifth Pierrot", tasking Pierrot with assassinations, and Lieutenant General Gatt Coulomb as "Sixth Venom", tasking him as her personal aide and clean-up member for the criminal organization.[89]

Some time later, she discovered a young boy named Lemy at an orphanage in Rolled and subsequently adopted him, further improving her public image.[90] As she raised the boy, Julia brainwashed the child to eventually become an assassin for Père Noël.[91]

At some point, Julia realized how obsessive Mayrana was in her attempts to immitate her and started to become unnerved by the ridiculous similarities they were sharing. Under the pretense of giving her a new mission, First Santa Claus ordered Fourth Shadow to take up residence in Merrigod Plateau, far away in Elphegort.[92] Shadow complied and later succeeded in becoming the elected mayor there, making it a second base of operations to direct the other members.[93]

After the death of Fifth Pierrot, Santa placed Gatt in charge of the organization's assassination missions.[94] In EC 608, she sent Fourth Shadow in her place with a vessel of sin to recruit the financially troubled Marquis Kaspar Blankenheim as a black market dealer for Père Noël.[95] With Kaspar agreeing to the terms and accepting the vessel, he began operating an underground market from Toragay for Julia's organization as "Second Dealer" while Mayrana directed him in her stead. Around the same time, Kaspar's wife, Margarita, was recruited into the organization as "Third Sleep Princess".[96]

In December of EC 608, with the upcoming presidential elections, Julia decided to remove any loose ends that could jeopardize her election and had them eliminated. Deeming Seventh Magician to be replacable after the election, First Santa Claus ordered Sixth Venom to assassinate the Père Noël member and retrieve the Venom Sword from her.[97] In EC 609, Julia recruited Lemy as the new Fifth Pierrot and placed him in charge of assassinations, sending him on numerous nighttime missions to kill specific targets.[98] Entering the ballot for the presidential election,[99] Julia began her campaign in Lucifenia.

Toragay Serial Killings

"Mayrana and those two did a lot of unauthorized things over in Elphegort. Who ordered you to "kill Elluka Clockworker"?... Margarita, Kaspar, and even Mayrana―I've lost very useful pawns thanks to them.“"
―First Santa Claus lectures Sixth Venom[src]

Later on in EC 609, First Santa Claus ordered Shadow to enact an operation: Transform the Gift poison into an airborne epidemic and then have Second Dealer monopolize a cure developed by Third Sleep Princess for the organization's profit.[100] Mayrana accepted the task and relayed the orders to the other members for Julia. At some point, Julia won the election and became President of the Lucifenian Republic, dealing with the nation's daily domestic and foreign affairs while continuing to lead Père Noël.

Later on, around mid-August, Julia ordered Mayrana to attack Aceid Deputy Mayor Banner and she fulfilled the mission as "First Santa Claus" on August 15. Santa later learned that Sleep Princess unexpectedly murdered Dealer while experimenting with the poison on August 30, prompting the World Police to investigate.[101] Once Julia established contact with the Freesis Foundation's Bruno Marlon,[102] she recruited him as a mole and ordered the high-ranking aide to halt the police investigation before Père Noël's involvement was discovered.

Around the same time, Julia ordered Mayrana to move the organization's underground market to her mansion in Calgaround and retrieve Kaspar's vessel of sin.[103] The vessel was recovered soon after and returned to the mage.[104] As the event continued, Julia learned of Elluka and Gumillia's continued involvement in the case under their false aliases and ordered Bruno to dispose of "Hanne" and "Heidemarie" in exchange for becoming Kaspar's replacement as Second Dealer.[105]

Following the World Police's quarantine of Toragay, Julia learned of Margarita and Mayor Julia's "disappearances" and left cleaning up the ruined operation to the surviving Sixth Venom. Throughout November, Julia tasked Lemy with the murder of five prostitutes in Rolled and he completed all five of the missions. Sometime after, Julia noticed that weeds had spread across her garden.

On November 26, Julia got up from bed and checked her schedule for the day while sipping her glass of milk at home. Afterward, she read over the different national newspapers regarding the cure for Gift and Bruno becoming a vice president of the Freesis Foundation until a knock came at the door. Answering it, she happily welcomed Gatt inside and asked if the processing in Elphegort was finished.

Once the peon stated he had handled the matter with Calgaround's mayor and Julia expressed her approval, pointing out how creepy it'd be to have someone with her same name missing. Placing her cup on the table and sitting down, Julia inquired about the Doll's recovery and Gatt reported that it had already disappeared by the time he got upstairs after stabbing Elluka. The mage then brushed off the blunder when Gatt added how his assassination attempt on Elluka seemed to have failed as both she and her apprentice had been spotted in Toragay.

Julia then remarked how poorly things had gone for him before standing to his face. As she glared straight into his eyes, the sorceress asked Sixth Venom if he was just grateful it ended without him getting killed. Met with his surprise, Julia continued to point how Mayrana and the other two seemed to act in their self-interests and questioned who gave him the order to "kill Elluka Clockworker". She then add that she had lost her pawns, Kaspar and Mayrana, due to Margarita's actions.

When Gatt began to insinuate Mayrana's actions out of jealousy of Elluka were due to her obsession with the mage, Julia questioned it excusing her attempt to kill the mage; adding it also didn't excuse him getting on board with her plan, Santa slapped Venom in her anger. He apologized and Julia accepted it, reminding him never to disrespect her or act selfishly again. After Gatt asked about Bruno, she admitted she took a liking to him, and noted she needed more pawns in Marlon anyhow.

As Gatt prepared to leave, Julia recalled her garden and ordered him to weed it for her. As the soldier began to protest, she warned him not to nitpick about his chores before offering to burn him to ashes instead. He then submitted and Julia told him to finish before her son returned home. Once the soldier left, Julia chuckled while returning to her seat and finished her milk. She then expressed her loss of the doll but gain of Kaspar's vessel left them even. After checking her schedule again, Julia got up and went to her dresser to change for her first task of the day.[106]

Duel of Merrigod Plateau

"I'll be waiting at Merrigod Plateau."
―Irina in her letter to Elluka[src]

Throughout EC 610, First Santa continued to send Lemy on nightly assassination missions. During that same year, her organization gained two new members: Seventh Magician and Eighth Sniper.[107] In winter of EC 610, Lemy alerted Santa that Magician was a traitor and, grateful for his loyalty, Julia petted her child's head despite the fact Seventh Magician escaped.[108] Learning Magician was actually Elluka, she sent her sister-in-law a letter challenging her to come find her at Merrigod Plateau in Elphegort.[109] At Merrigod, Irina awaited for Elluka's arrival and afterward clashed with her "sister" and her apprentice, Gumillia, before being defeated.[110] At some point, Irina transformed into a different existence.[111]

Personality and Traits

"Seems you want to be turned to ashes."
―Irina spouting her favorite curse[src]

Irina was a deceitful, manipulative, and cruel woman and was responsible for countless atrocities during her lifetime. Because she had been born with Hereditary Evil Raiser Syndrome, Irina felt compelled to spread malice and misfortune to others. Despite being born a HER, she had not been aware of her innate nature originally, and believed she was a normal human.[112] As a result, she maintained close relationships with her brother and his fiancée, Elluka, although jealous of the latter.[113] Similarly, she was overcome with guilt by her sudden betrayal and murder of Elluka, immediately driven to tears after doing so.

But, after learning what she was, she came to revel in sowing malice and grew ashamed of her previous guilt over the evil she inflicted upon others. In spite of this, Irina eventually grew concerned about being the only remaining HER after the Levianta Catastrophe, bothered by the limits of malice she could spread alone and, more importantly, the loneliness of being the only surviving HER.[114] Therefore, she was satisfied by the three family lines carrying HER in its bloodline and its potential spread over time.[115]

Calm and collected, Irina usually observed conflicts with glee and rarely became too involved in a situation after sowing the seeds herself. As a result, she often laughed at others' shortcomings or mused at how events played out while fully aware they were her doing. Coinciding with this, she sadistically enjoyed watching others suffer and treated them as her pawns in a game. Because of this, she easily used trickery or lies to achieve her goals,[116] and was often scheming to satisfy her own desires.[117]

However, she did have brief lapses in her amusement when something unexpected or inconvenient occurred and was visibly distressed or bothered by it, though she quickly found the benefits these situations gave her.[118] She was also put off by Mayrana's increasingly obsessive mimicry of her, finding it unsettling.[119] Likewise, Irina would become especially outraged when her pawns acted outside of her interests and expectations of failed her in even minor ways. Therefore, her temper often led to punishing them, sometimes with death or an even worse fate.[120]

In a similar vein, she was attracted to grandiose acts of violence and became excited by the sight of such display.[121] Among her destructive habits, Irina enjoyed burning people and she often threatened to burn someone "to ashes" for failing or angering her.[122] She also took a liking to the idea of torture used by the lord of Castle Hedgehog and began employing the method herself when extracting information.[123] In contrast to Elluka, milk was Irina's choice of drink and she had it whenever available.[124]

Due to losing her original body in the catastrophe, Irina became resentful towards Elluka, deriving much joy from the mage's failings or suffering, and even swore revenge on her and promised to make her feel nothing but utter despair.[125] However, after setting her sights on the Demons of Sin, Irina actively avoided Elluka whenever possible, although planning to confront the mage herself eventually.[126] She was also frustrated by Elluka's interference in her many schemes, to the point that Presi's mention of her caused the cat to hiss with displeasure; despite this, she was against any potential killing of the mage.

After becoming a cat, Irina began mimicking felines, learning to act like a cat in both her mannerisms and body language. While using one of her bodies, she maintained the façade as simply the cat for the "sorceress" medium, even petting herself via the body she controlled.[127] However, she often took a more active role while in combat, keeping her true body safe and away from harm, especially after Germaine Avadonia discovered her secret. Because of her limits as a cat, Irina took particular interest in the bodies she acquired, searching for those with strong magical power and taking even greater interest in those that had unique abilities.

When using these bodies, Irina also used aliases to hide her identity, although revealing her true nature to the few she collaborated with.[128] She also honored her deals with others when they were to her advantage. Ironically, she sympathized with Venomania's harem due having once been a woman, expecting men to treat their women respectfully and take the time to know them.[129] She also became extremely interested in the reincarnations of Hänsel and Gretel, heavily experimenting on Ney Marlon and using Lemy to great effect,[130] and planned to eventually take the twin gods Levia-Behemo from Elluka's own body and soul.[131]

Skills and Abilities

"Although she hasn't received any magic training, the results of the Royal Institute's examination of everyone confirm that she has a high M factor."
―Excerpt from seventh Project 'Ma' report[src]

Despite never receiving any magical training, Irina was a powerful sorceress who was ranked second only to Elluka when surveyed for Project 'Ma'.[132] Among her plethora of spells, Irina could cast powerful fire spells and severely burn someone without killing them,[133] teleport in a cloud of smoke,[134] unlock doors,[135] summon nearby animals to attack others, and grow a ziz tiama to an enormous size and control it.[136]

However, after losing her original body and inhabiting a stuffed cat, Irina was unable to perform any spells and lost many of her basic functions as a human. But, through the use of the incomplete Swap Technique she acquired thereafter, the sorceress was able to steal another person's body while remaining in complete control of her actual cat body. Like a ragdoll, the medium was freely under her control and was an extension of herself, sometimes even mimicking her cat body's expressions.[137]

She could also utilize her host's magical power as her own, though her skill and capabilities varied between each medium.[138] However, due to originally being a woman, the mage was unable to use magic while possessing a male vessel. Her mediums' bodies also ceased aging while in use, allowing her to keep a single medium for decades or centuries before choosing a new one.[139] The body could be damaged without causing any injury to Irina and, as a shell, did not bleed, making it seemingly invincible in combat.[140]

While controlling the body, she suppressed the host's consciousness, allowing her to leave it behind without the person awakening.[141] Despite this, the person's consciousness could resurface if strongly provoked and could become difficult for Irina to control.[142] She could also probe the minds of those she controlled, although she was unable to learn the full knowledge or intent from their memories.[143] To maintain the technique, she always kept her cat body near the intended vessel at all times.[144]

As a cat, Irina could communicate with those possessed by Demons of Sin but sounded like just an ordinary cat to others.[145] While using Lukana's body, Irina was able to use her prophetic dream ability and, while using Germaine's body, she had the swordswoman's advanced healing ability, recovering quickly from serious injuries.[146] Irina was also a skilled artisan, having created the Clockworker's Doll, and was knowledgeable about her family's works.

She similarly had a deep knowledge of the vessels of sin, along with the skill to transplant the Demons and switch them between their own vessels without becoming possessed herself. In conjunction with this, she was a master manipulator, able to taking advantage of others emotions, desires, and insecurities to get what she wanted.[147]  Likewise, she was extremely skilled in espionage and information gathering, creating vast information networks that gave her extensive and influence in current affairs.

Her skills with spying even allowed her develop Marlon's Espionage Task Force for Prim,[148]  and she maintained contacts among the criminal underground, corporate elite, and even royalty across the centuries. As President of Lucifenia, Julia held a great amount of political power during her tenure in office. Due to her experience with killing, Irina could instinctively know the amount of murderers and murder weapons in a massacre,[149] and would sometimes even sense when a nearby fight began.[150]

Character Connections

Seth Twiright: A scientist who aided Irina. Initially working with him under Project 'Ma' and approached by him after the Levianta Catastrophe, Irina was appreciative of the chance that he offered to achieve her revenge. Later, she expressed an interest in the scientist's other experiments to spread evil in the world, in particular the Venom Sword.

Kiril Clockworker: Irina's brother. Irina maintained a sisterly relationship with Kiril, demonstrated in that he loved her as much as he loved Elluka, while becoming jealous of his lover. Their relationship became distant after her murder of Elluka, and Irina displayed no later regret over his loss of reason and eventual death.

Elluka Clockworker: Irina's sister-in-law. Although growing to become jealous of Elluka during her engagement to Kiril and turning on her during Project 'Ma', Irina initially felt great remorse from killing her. After being injured in the Levianta Catastrophe, however, she became obsessed with achieving revenge for Elluka's perceived role and sought to destroy everything in the sorceress' life to achieve that aim, only referring to their past relationship with mockery from then on.

Gumillia: The apprentice of Irina's enemy. Irina saw Gumillia with a hostility as an extension of her hate for Elluka and fought with her, although displayed inattention to the latter and Elluka's relationship, such as referring to her with honorifics that Elluka didn't use.

Sateriasis Venomania: Irina's partner. Impressed by his single-handed massacre, Irina selected the duke for use of a vessel of sin and the two developed a mutual partnership. She was occassionally frustrated by his inexperience with his own abilities and concerned over his careless acquisition of women. Despite this, Irina was also amused by Venomania's consistently lustful behavior, although believing it would bring trouble.

Platonic: A thief under Irina's employ. Irina knew Platonic's mentor and was appreciative of the girl's skills in infiltration as well as seeing her useful due to the dregs of Sloth in her body, hiring her on two missions to retrieve the Seven Deadly Sin Vessels. This appreciation for Platonic's skills was deep enough to last even after her first failure to retrieve the Glass of Conchita.

Presi Rogzé: Irina's partner. She used Presi's ambitions to enlist his aid in attacking the twins Alexiel and Riliane, and later was amused at his rage when things did not go according to plan. She was not affected by his later death at the hands of Elluka and Mariam, having warned him of the Three Heroes beforehand.

Prim Marlon: Irina's partner. Irina viewed Prim as a means to orchestrate political chaos during the Story of Evil. She maintained a confidential relationship with her, but had no scruple to go against Prim's wishes and manipulate the queen when it proved useful to her end goals.

Ney Futapie: Irina's test subject. Irina viewed Ney as merely a means to further her own ends as an incarnation of Gretel and learn valuable information about the Demon of Gluttony, relying on the girl's connection to Arte.

Lemy Abelard: Irina's adopted son. Irina viewed Lemy as merely a means further her own ends, adopting him due to his being a reincarnation of Hänsel and brainwashing him into obeying her. She would maintain a false motherly relationship with him to keep his loyalty, using the body of Germaine Avadonia to remind him of Meta Salmhofer.

Margarita Blankenheim: Irina's partner. Irina saw in Margarita potential to aid her and destroy Toragay, and so maintained a friendly relationship with her while giving her the Gift and bringing her into Père Noël.

Clockworker's Doll: A doll Irina made. Irina made the Clockworker's Doll with the intention of making it the vessel of Sloth, using it to influence Margarita into committing her mass murder on Toragay.

Haru Netsuma: A body Irina used as a medium. Irina recognized Haru's strong magic potential and thus used her as a medium during the Venomania Event. She would act according to Haru's consciousness when it resurfaced, such as leaving Hakua alone. She displayed little personal attachment to the body, however and later discarded it to move on to other hosts.

Lukana Octo: A body Irina targeted as a medium. She recognized the magic potential of Lukana's body, and so wished to use her as a medium rather than Haru, however, she was unable to follow through on this wish due to the interference of Sateriasis and later Elluka.

Germaine Avadonia: A body Irina inhabited. She originally knew Germaine as an enemy and fought with her during the Story of Evil;  later saw use in possessing her body to become Julia Abelard.

Trivia

Conceptualization and Origin

  • Irina's name is Slavic, meaning "peace"; Levianta, her native country, is inspired by Russia.
  • Her surname, Clockworker, refers to the inner workings of a clock and literally refers to someone who makes or works with such devices; it also a possible allusion to the Clockwork Lullaby Series.
  • Her alias as AB-CIR is a bridge to her eventual pseudonym Abyss I.R. and is a reference to her representative Vocaloid; the name Iroha roughly translates as "ABC".
  • Her pseudonym as Abyss I.R. used the word "abyss", meaning a deep or bottomless chasm or a profound difference between people.
  • The alias may also be derived from the word abyssinian, a breed of cat characterized by red fur and a slender body; Irina's true form while using the name is that of a slender, red cat.
  • Her pseudonym while possessing Germaine is a female English derivative of the male name "Julius", meaning "Jove's Child"; Jove is another name for the god Jupiter of Roman mythology, the king of the gods.
  • Julia's surname, Abelard, is derived from German, meaning "resolute" or "steadfast" and is the surname of a famous French philosopher, Peter Abelard; Lucifenia, the country Julia became president of, is inspired by France.
  • Irina's name is partially inspired by the name of her representative Vocaloid, Iroha, with both names sharing the same first two letters and last letter.

Curiosities

  • When surveyed for Project 'Ma', Irina's rankings were M=206, O=96, T=83, H=113, E=666, R=153.[151]
  • Her E factor being quanitifed as 666 resulted in suspicions that she was a HER;[152] the number is regarded as the Number of the Beast and a satanic number of evil by biblical scholars.
  • In the Fifth Pierrot PV, First Santa Claus is labeled as an older woman but the statement is humorously crossed out and replaced with the term "sexy beauty" instead.
  • Irina's role in Père Noël follows the twisted "Christmas" theme that surrounds the organization, giving "gifts" as "Santa" to the other members and desiring to punish "naughty children" for their actions.[153]
  • As First Santa Claus, Irina inhabits the body of Germaine, represented by the Vocaloid MEIKO; like Santa Claus, MEIKO characteristically wears red clothing.
  • According to Ma, Irina desired to collect the vessels of sin so that they could grant her a wish.[154]
  • Humorously, Irina refers to Elluka as "big sister" while using an old woman as her medium, much to Ney's confusion since Elluka looks physically younger than her.
  • On the night her vessel had been taken from the Graveyard restaurant and placed in the office of Gallerian Marlon, Banica Conchita believed she had again met with Irina at some point.[155]
  • In Epic of Evil: The Daughter of Evil Fanbook, Abyss I.R. was voted as the twenty-sixth most popular character in The Daughter of Evil series by Japanese fans, along with Shaw Freesis, Mikina Freesis, Eve Moonlit, Sateriasis Venomania, and Trauben Fruit.
