Inheritors[note 1] were humans in the Third Period who were born with the powers of an individual from the Second Period despite having no blood relation to them.
Mechanics
Inheritors were beings that were, through unknown means, born with the Third Period abilities of an individual from the Second Period.[1] The abilities "inherited" were ones unique to the original earthlings and could not be learned by anyone who wasn't born with them.[2] In some cases, such as Rahab Barisol's Prophetic Dream ability, inheritor abilities were tied to the physical body,[3] and could be passed down to an inheritor's descendants.[2] This made some abilities specific to certain families or clans.[4] In other cases, inheritor abilities were tied to the soul and could be retained by an individual even if they moved to a new body or vessel, as with the case of Irina Clockworker and her blue fire magic inherited from Salem Dunbar.[5]
Types
Behemo
A type of ability possessed by Yegor Asayev and his descendant Mikhail. In the instance of Yegor, his special vision allowed him to see and identify others' inheritor abilities.[6] Meanwhile, with the case of Mikhail, he was born with an artificial eye that allowed him to see through opaque surfaces.[1]
Gilles
A type of ability seen in Meta Salmhofer. She could use the power to brainwash men and make them do her bidding,[4] although it could also manifest its power without her conscious decision.[7]
Held
A type of ability possessed by the priestesses of Lighwatch temple, such as Zellana and Elluka Chirclatia. Inheritors of Held could cure HER, and were thus sought out for this specific ability by the Asayev Family.[6]
Levia
An ability possessed by Eve Zvezda. As part of being an inheritor of Levia, she could use hypnosis. Eve's blood was also used as a basis for the drug Venom.[8]
Rahab
A type of ability seen in and exclusive to the Loop Octopus Clan. Inheritors of Rahab possessed the ability to have prophetic dreams.[2]
Salem
A type of ability seen in Irina Clockworker, Raisa Netsuma and the rest of the Netsuma Clan during the era of the Magic Kingdom Levianta. Inheritors of Salem could wield blue fire magic.[4]
Vlad
A type of ability seen in Aybee Cee and his son Ron Grapple. In the instance of Aybee, he could control the undead as well as magically influence his son and put him under his control.[9]
Trivia
Curiosities
- In-universe, "inheritor" is a term coined by sorcerers from Magic Kingdom Levianta.[9]
- The Zvezda family was theorized to be descended from Held Yggdra,[10] though Eve herself is an inheritor of Levia.[7]
