"What will you see at the end of this fictional fight?"
―Singer[src]

Fictional Masquerade is a song released by Akuno-P for the RPG game "Engage Princess." Initially being sung by the voice actress Saori Hayami, an alternate version sung by MEIKO was featured on the album Evils Extra, later being released on its own on August 16, 2019.

Plot[]

A group of people congregate under the night sky, holding invitations to a dance. They are each given a mask with the mark of a clown on it. As the guests begin to dance, the singer requests that you continue to dance along with them. They also question what you will see at the end of "this fictional fight."

On a stage bathed in blue light, the singer dances swords with someone else, marking the floor with their bloody steps. The singer tells them that if they become tired from this dance, they are welcome to kneel down in the presence of their new god. They admit that no one cares about their mistakes, stating that they will only hold the other person's trembling shoulders before stabbing their blade through their heart.

When the music ends, the one still alive will be all alone. Every guest wears an ornate mask that hides their true identity, instead keeping in time with the flow of the false dance. The singer then asks the listener to continue this clumsy dance with them.

Lyrics[]

Come, let's start to dance together
This clumsy dance

The guests assemble beneath the moon
With wet parchment invitations
On the masks they're given
Is the mark of a clown

Who will you pair with in this illusion?
To a false melody woven by souls

For now you should continue to dance, hand in mine
The forbidden fruit, it is a mechanical trap
What will you see
At the end of this fictional fight?

On a stage steeped in blue
We carry out steps of reddened blood
A dance of swords
That slice vulgar ambition to ribbons

If you become too worn from dancing to move
Then kneel
In the presence of god

No one is smiling at your foolish setbacks
For I will only hold your trembling shoulder
And then plunge my blade
Deep into your left breast

When the music is over, the one standing in the hall
Will be alone, there are no exceptions

Everyone is wearing a mask of ostentation
Keeping in time with the sound of the clock, not showing their true face
Come, let's continue to dance together
This clumsy dance
