Clockwork Secret Art

The Clockwork Secret Art was a powerful magic technique that manipulates time. Primarily used by the Clockworker Family, the difficult and draining spell could be used for great effect across a variety of purposes.

Mechanics

The high-level spell allowed the users to manipulate time to an extent. Skilled practitioners could greatly reduce the flow of time around the caster, allowing people and objects surrounding them to move in slow motion. As a result, people under the influence of the technique perceived the user as moving relatively fast. Masters of the technique could completely halt time.

When cast on a particular area or object, it could also be used to reverse the flow of time on aged objects, allowing them to be rejuvenated in working order while the technique was still in effect. However, the technique could not resurrect the dead, regardless of time of death. The spell could also reverse the effects of demonic possession and uproot demons from their hosts so they could be more easily exorcised.

While the technique was being cast, the perceived time of day and weather around the user flowed back a certain period, though reverted to normal when the spell was finished being cast. The technique was activated by reciting its name and consumed a large amount of magic power, making it difficult for unskilled users to invoke the technique repeatedly for long periods of time. If improperly cast, the technique could be extremely dangerous to the flow of time for the objects it was cast on.
